  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Study Says: "D'oh!"

One of the major reasons used for justifying medicaid expansion in Michigan was that too many were using the hospital emergency rooms, rather than using a regular doctor.

If fact, during the building expansion debate in 2013, Michigan's Governor Rick Snyder claimed as much:

"Currently, Snyder says we are funding the Emergency room visits of those without coverage through our increased insurance fees. He believes it would save money to send them to doctors opposed to the Emergency room.

Patriot Radio's "Trucker Randy" Bishop asked why he didn't opt out of Obamacare, like other states have done. The governor replied because that will leave people without healthcare and at the mercy of emergency rooms."

Huh, I guess he was wrong.

At least as is being reported in the Detroit News (and in a million other [surprised] outlets) he was:

" A new study has found that people enrolled recently in Medicaid went to the emergency room 40 percent more frequently than others, often seeking help for conditions that could be treated less expensively in a doctor's office or an urgent care clinic."
    And there you go.

And it wasn't as if there was no warning.  It wasn't as if there was no one talking about an increase in Medicaid use, coupled with a reduction of Doctors to handle such things.

If this doesn't put an end to the Red Light Camera (RLC) nonsense ..

The North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University did an RLC study in 2004 that revealed some flaws in the arguments being used for the implementation of Red Light Cameras.  The study demonstrated the opposite result of that which camera supporters claim:

"However, the intersections where RLCs were installed are not experiencing the same decrease. When analyzing total crashes, we find that RLCs have a statistically significant (p<0.001) and large (40% increase) effect on accident rates.

In addition, RLCs have a statistically significant, positive impact on rear-end accidents, sideswipes, and accidents involving cars turning left (traveling on the same roadway).

The one type of accident found to experience a decrease at RLC sites are those involving a left turning car and a car traveling on a different roadway. "

I'll bet that LAST statistic is used to sell such systems.

    Yabadabbadoo.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Breaking - Homosexuality Is A Dangerous Lifestyle

Sometimes SOMEONE has to break the news.

From their own statistics, homosexuals-only comprise about 1.7% of the population in the US.  Yet the CDC recording demonstrates that merely the MSM deviants were responsible for 70% of the new HIV cases in 2010.

Second hand infections are suspected to be as a result of the 1.8% who idenitfy as 'bi-sexual' and share relationships between same AND Opposite sexes. (Spreading the 'love')

The surgeon General's warnings on Cigarettes are clear.

    • SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Smoking Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, Emphysema, And May Complicate Pregnancy.
    • SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Quitting Smoking Now Greatly Reduces Serious Risks to Your Health.
    • SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Smoking By Pregnant Women May Result in Fetal Injury, Premature Birth, And Low Birth Weight.
    • SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Cigarette Smoke Contains Carbon Monoxide.
We would like to take an opportunity to offer a couple labels of fact that should be considered in this new health crisis:
    • SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Homosexuality has been shown to lead to an 8,000-10,000 percent increase in the possibility of contracting HIV/AIDS.
    • SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Second hand sexual activity by Bisexuals who engage in homosexual activity can lead to the spread of disease outside of the Homosexual community.
There are others which could be added, but sticking with easily understood FACT as presented by the CDC, we feel those two labels, if presented in the same way that the tobacco labels have been, could save countless lives, in ALL communities.

Families, and our nation's health depends on it.

Next logical removals would be the 'funny gay' media presentations that act much in the same way as 'Joe Camel' cartoon tobacco advocacy did in the 80s and 90s.

    Stay tuned for updates!

    ARE HOMOSEXUALS "UNTOUCHABLES"?

By Stacy Swimp - (Originally posted on his blog here)

Michigan Republican National Committeeman, Dave Agema, has been under relentless and vicious attack from advocates of same sex marriage, solely on the basis of having reposted an article which proposes a number of health risks and social consequences the writer claims are associated with same sex relationships.

The article: "Everyone Should Know These Statistics on Homosexuals`, by Frank Joseph, M.D, suggests that their are a number of negative consequences to the lifestyle of homosexuality.

The author of the article also addresses what he calls "The Homosexual Agenda", among other things.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with the opinions of the article, it is clear that the author poses some compelling points that are worthy of civil debates.

Dave Agema simply offered the article for such as debate to occur.

Nevertheless, in an attempt to suppress Agema's constitutionally protected right to freedom of speech, even some so called Republicans have publicly come out against him, calling for his resignation, accusing him of being a "bigot", `hateful', etc.

Allegedly. the Libertarian Party of Michigan has also called for Agema's resignation, accusing him of actions that are "unacceptable, sickening and reprehensible."

All this, simply for posting a study on a facebook page? ~ Continued below the fold
