Despite the impact of the Federal Reserve on every single American's money and daily life, it is the most secretive agency in the entire federal government.

Candice got this one right. Well, partially right, up until she decided it's smart to start blathering for a Federal catastrophic fund to 'fleece' e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e into gummint subsidy.
Yessirree, it was Richard "I Never Met A Big Government Program That I Didn't Like" Nixon who mandated National Flood Insurance in 1973, further entangling folks to bureaucracy created floodplain schemes if you'd like a mortgage. So, who were the Michigan Republicans that kicked the fleecing can down the road? Benishek, Camp, Huizenga, McCotter, Rogers, Upton, and Walberg voting in lockstep with nanny government entitlement Democrats Clarke, Conyers, Dingell, Kildee, Levin, and Peters. And they still get their nose all out of joint with wondering why they end up in places like here? Go figure. Anywho, a 'shout out' thanks to Representative Amash, for the much appreciated consistency. Candice, nice try, but thanks for your NO vote anyway. (5 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
The wall of shame has served its purpose.
There isn't a Republican congressman who occupied its space who was not made aware of it often by supporters or those who wanted to put it in their face as a means of showing disapproval. The wall is now empty for the time being, yet the violation of principle must be acknowledged in a more permanent way. As a means of keeping more permanently the record of the occupiers and their decision to saddle our future with more debt, I am making it into a post (this post) that will be searchable forevermore. As I wrote: "This wall is not because we hate you guys, but because we respected and counted on you. Conservatives expect bad legislation out of progressives and the Democrats. Getting along just cannot cut it anymore. Shape up and "know your power." And now it resides below the line. There is still opportunity for those described here to self reflect. There is still time for those who are considering primaries to file and declare their principled ideas and solutions. Let the debate begin. Its pretty hard to stay away from the national issues sometimes.
There is the inability of our leadership to just say "forget about it" when their opponents suggest lifting caps, and spending more of our children's soon to be taxed heavily again inheritances. There is a weakness when it comes to doing the right thing like throwing out a few babies with bathwater. There is a real lack of courage coming from our Republicans IMO. But I am not yet giving up. Sure, I would like to see the cap held. No more! Stop! Cease! But in the spirit of "compromise" the house gave a little. In fact, the bill sent through would have still allowed a minimum of $2.5 trillion increase in the debt, adding both principle and of course the expected financing measures. And the senate said nah, not good enough. So frankly, to heck with them. Its time that Michigan's congressional delegation simply takes a stand. One that is solidly for NO increase in the debt. None. Nada. More below ~ (5 comments, 753 words in story) Full Story By Congressman Mike Rogers, Section News

The trampling of the Constitution by Washington over the last few years has resulted in an explosion of federal spending on new programs that have added to the massive national deficit. (13 comments, 426 words in story) Full Story By Republican Michigander, Section News
This is a real kick in the nuts for the democrats.
This is a shot at the democrat establishment here, along with a lot of the activists.
I think Ngalamulume's name is still going to be on the ballot so I'm not going to change my 8th district page listing him as a candidate, but this one's all but over for sure now. It takes more than a name on the ballot to win most of the time. It's like McCain quitting on Michigan and announcing it in 08. It doesn't go over well. This district has a slight GOP lean outside of massacre years like 08, but it's never completely safe with Lansing, East Lansing, and Okemos. The best news about this is that it frees up money to go after Peters and Schauer, and to target Stupak's old seat. (4 comments) Comments >> By Congressman Mike Rogers, Section News
The failure of the Christmas Day Bomber's or the Times Square Bomber's attempts to kill hundreds of Americans may be the consequence of sheer luck, but luck is not a reliable plan for saving the lives of Americans targeted by terrorists.
We must demand that our leaders have a better strategy than depending on luck to prevent terrorist attacks and save lives. Terrorist attacks, successes or failures, take a toll on our families by the loss of lives and destruction of property, as well as in undermining our sense of security in our own homes and communities. In the case of the Times Square Bomber, law enforcement officials apprehended him within 53 hours of his attempt to murder several hundred people in New York City. The capture was only minutes before the would-be bomber would have been airborne for Pakistan and out of our reach forever. Based on my experience as an FBI Special Agent, I recognize what a solid job our law enforcement officers did in tracking down and capturing the bomber so quickly. Surely, no American regrets that he was caught. We would, however, have had many regrets if hundreds of people had been killed by his destructive bomb. Likewise, because of some brave passengers on the Christmas Day flight, that bomber also was stopped, the plane landed safely, and many lives saved. Republican Truth Squad on today's Health Care Summit in Washington DC:
Assessment from the office of Republican Leader John Boehner: During today's White House health care summit, President Obama made this claim: "What we've done is we've tried to take every single cost containment idea that's out there. Every proposal that health care economists say will reduce health care costs, we've tried to adopt in the various proposals." No, not so much. Despite the President's rhetoric, Democrats' job-killing health care proposals do not implement a single major GOP reform that would lower costs for families and small businesses. Yes, Washington Democrats have recently begun incorporating into their rhetoric a few of the same words Republicans have long used. But when you dig beneath the newly-minted rhetoric and actually look at the text of their bills, it quickly becomes evident that they haven't actually incorporated any of the major health care reforms Republicans support. Of course, even if these GOP reforms were incorporated, they would still be attached to legislation that includes job-killing tax hikes, deep cuts to Medicare, massive unfunded mandates on states, unconstitutional mandates on individuals, an "abortion premium" levied on taxpayers, vast new powers for the federal bureaucracy, and other unacceptable provisions the American people reject. Initial reviews of the President's costly, job-killing health care proposal revealed it didn't include any new GOP ideas:
"Mr. Obama's plan, released ahead of a televised health summit with congressional leaders Thursday, didn't include any additional nods to Republican ideas." (The Wall Street Journal, 2/23/10)
"Obama's proposal was not the blank slate demanded by the GOP and was short on new ideas aimed at winning their support." (The Hill, 2/22/10)
"President Obama's `opening bid' on health reform is not designed to entice Republicans to join the game." (Washington Post editorial, 2/23/10) (2 comments) Comments >>
