  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    A NOT Endorsement.

Frankly, the best conservative candidates for president are either gone, or not running.

Sarah Palin, the smarter than you think VP candidate of 2008 sparked the imagination of tea folk throughout the country, and had already been exposed to the chicken pox of media skewering. She would have been immune to their poisoned quills this time around.  However, the generosity of the milquetoast Republican establishment would not be forthcoming.  Where the media left off, the supposed spokespeople of the Right picked up, and inserted doubt of viability. Her decision to remain a viable voice meant NOT running.

    Shame.

Herman Cain, one of those folks who actually understands how to identify problems and assign the proper talent to them, was probably the best hope in advancing the conservative message.  He was the first out of the gate with a plan for tax reform, and whether one agrees with HIS proposal, its hard to argue what we have currently is remotely correct.  Decidedly innovative, its too bad he is not running still. There is no doubt he was the greatest threat to the current admin for a number of reasons.

    Disappointing.

Michele Bachmann has been fighting the tea party fight in DC consistently, yet never got the full support she needed.  When Herman Cain dropped out, much of that support went to Newt.  If she had hung in at least to Florida, I believe she would have had a resurgence.  Next to Herman, she was the best representative of tea values in the recent slate.

    And out of those left?

    Paul -
Out of the park wrong on foreign affairs.
Newt - Questionable values, probable opportunist.
Romney - Romneycare. (need we say more?)

    Did I forget someone?

On Saturday evening ABC presented a GOP debate live from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. The debate was sponsored by ABC News, Yahoo! News, WOI-TV, the Des Moines Register and the Republican Party of Iowa. This was the first debate held since Herman Cain ended his 2012 run leaving just 6 candidates on stage to field questions. (Jon Huntsman did not meet the polling requirements set forth by ABC to participate in this debate.)

    From Doug Ross

Health care premiums to leap as much as 85% in Ohio; HHS response: spend $100M investigating insurers

Complete up-front repeal is the only solution to the lie that was forced down our throats.

Waivers from the Romneycare RINO camp isn't going to do it.  Executive fiats from the Perry 'hearting' illegals camp isn't going to do it.  Nor does it help the equation if the Weeper of the House is still around if either aforementioned governors actually become the GOP presidential nominee.  Their plans to address Obamacare do nothing.

Complete repeal.  It is the only option.
