And this time Republicans, poisoned by the Snyder brand are on board.
Automatic wage increases, a term that can only be associated with those on a government paycheck, are actually being considered in a bill sponsored by 'Republicans.' HB5097, as the Mackinac Center reports, will exempt certain PA312 of 1969 covered employees from PA54 of 2011. ".. House Bill 5097, which has 23 co-sponsors, would exempt law enforcement and fire department employees from the law. Specifically, the exemption would apply to employees who are covered by Public Act 312 of 1969, which is a compulsory arbitration law.Bravo. Perhaps next, they might propose an automatic wage increase for farmers? Without the heroic acts of farmers none of us might eat! What about plumbers? Fighting fire without water wouldn't work too well. How about auto makers, etc.. ? According to Mackinac there are 18 Republicans co-sponsoring the legislation. Reps: Kevin Cotter, Hugh Crawford, Kevin Daley, Jeff Farrington, Frank Foster, Ken Goike, Nancy Jenkins, Eileen Kowall, Ken Kurtz, Andrea LaFontaine, Matt Lori, Lisa Posthumus Lyons, Mike McCready, Rick Outman, Peter Pettalia, Wayne Schmidt, Pat Somerville, and Dale Zorn. Five Democrat Reps: Vicki Barnett, Paul Clemente, Brandon Dillon, Tim Greimel, and Henry Yanez. Bipartisanship. (1 comment) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News

To do what is right, draw a line in the sand, and save the Michigan Republican party in the process.
Each of these representatives put their mark on the dotted line for eventual higher federal taxes, Obamacare, and expanding reliance on a bigger government. They are Republicans, who have sought and won the trust of those who believe in a LIMITED government, and support a platform that says Republicans will do so. Many wouldn't even be in office if it were not for the grass roots conservative revolution in 2010; a group that is hardly out of the picture.

We know of a couple who have said they will change their votes. They are not responding to threats of activists, but realize after making their choices, that they have been lied to along the way by the governor, the Lt governor and lobbyist after lobbyist looking for that next windfall on the taxpayer dime. Help the rest of them get the information they need. Email away. (1 comment) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Fair is fair. Yet fairness and a level playing field is NOT going to be the end result of this latest assault on the pocketbook and the ability of small business to operate with an online presence.
The burdens and additional paperwork small business will face if the internet sales tax is enacted might mean nothing to the Walmarts or other big box houses which have a nexus in each and every state. However, a small operation that does business on the internet and ALREADY faces a shipping obstacle the box houses can overcome with trucking logistics, will be forced into near impossible operating conditions. There might be other solutions, but no-one has come close to the right ones yet. There are some legislators that serve their (well funded) masters well.
Tax Tyrants?Click on their images and call them to ask "why would they want to hurt Small Business in Michigan and elsewhere?" (2 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Governor Rick Snyder's obsession has a little bit of a roadblock.
After the Governor attempted to subvert the will of the people and the legislature with a convoluted 'intra-local' agreement on his pet bridge project, he now finds there is no state money available for his new tool. Unless he pulls an "Obama" and violates the Michigan constitution, no money can be appropriated to the new method which has raised eyebrows with conservative leadership in the Michigan legislature. The stopping point? From the Detroit News: "The House Appropriations Committee amended a supplemental funding bill barring the Michigan Economic Development Corp. from spending general fund taxpayer money on construction or development of the proposed New International Trade Crossing. And CUT! (a little Michigan film credit humor there) Anyhow, there is ONE little point that needs to be addressed. The ability of an Intra-Local tool to even have ANY validity between nations. Would such an agreement even be legal? Our constitution says not so fast. Only the President with the consent of the US Senate can enact such contracts. From Article 2 Section 2 of the US Constitution: " .. He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States .."And given that MR Snyder is not yet our Presinerd, his will is a little ahead of itself. An 'attaboy' and thank you goes out to House Appropriations Committee members Dave Agema, Chuck Moss, Bob Genetski, Eileen Kowall, Matt Lori, Bill Rogers, Jon Bumstead, Kevin Cotter, Ken Goike, Nancy Jenkins, Peter MacGregor, Greg MacMaster, Earl Poleski, Phil Potvin, and the lone Democrat voting yes with those members, Richard LeBlanc. They have saved our state a little embarrassment for the time being. Unchecked executive authority is abuse. (5 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
From KRH comment:
The legislature is back in session, Matt Lori (R-Constantine) is planning on introducing the NPVIC bill, and I'm told that the NPV supporters are trolling the halls of the state capitol, looking for supporters. (6 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
The NPV troll brought me to a site that explained more succinctly the dangers of the NVP. The canard of NVP being non partisan is absurd at its base.
The Progressive left is determined to transform our republic into a unitary state with one political party--theirs. What would that look like? Perhaps something like the social democracies of Western Europe or maybe democratic republics of the former Eastern Europe Soviet bloc. With policy being guided by radical Marxists in the current White House, the goal could be a full-blown communist utopia. Maybe they don't even know where they're headed. Those republicans who have fallen for the fairness trap need to brush up on checks and balances. Oh yeah.. Our troll Mr "Kohler" should recognize his modus operandi : "I received five very long rebuttals from the same untraceable ... They arrived 1 minute apart. Overwhelm the opposition: typical leftist tactic." Dude. Way too easy to spot. I had you in 10 minutes. (actually 3, but I type slow) (4 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News

GOP Gives NPV A Big Thumbs Down. Kudos to NRC chair Reince Priebus for nipping this in the bud. With so many things going on, its good to have someone watching our backs on things like this. (28 comments) Comments >>
