    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Oh Wait - Maybe Not - Well Maybe

Before all the equal-sign folks get their panties and other leather encumbrances in a squish, perhaps they should pay attention.

It ain't over yet. But close.  They've almost won.

Homosexuality is still a perversion on nature, goes against God's will, leads to other moral decay, causes more disease than even the sin of simple adultery alone. BUT it is not going to be a part of any holy matrimony in Michigan anytime soon.  According to recent polling, Michigan's appropriate Marriage Protection Covenant is still strong:

Among the 600 likely voters polled statewide July 23-24, 51 percent opposed having same-sex marriage brought up for a vote, while 42 percent supported such a move, with 7 percent undecided . The poll had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points, with 10 percent of those surveyed reached on cell phones.
Dashing the hopes of those who wish to subvert the constitution and crush tradition.

    Yes, the constitution.

Recall the particular part of which, so celebrated by the left, that it has been used by them to defile the visage of Christ, promote profanity in media, and generally secure the blessings of that other supernatural cat not so popular with today's truly righteous bunch. Indeed the toleration of abuse the 1st amendment has endured, is only by the right, and those who truly understand what freedoms truly are; that which comes from God alone.

Perhaps that is why they seek to separate us from our Father Who Art In heaven?  In many ways, it has already started.  For our tolerance of their right to corrosive speech, and behavior masked with freedom of speech, we are rewarded with chains:

Coming soon to an American court room near you.

Wealthy gay dad, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, says he and his civil partner Tony will go to court to force churches to host gay weddings.

He told the Essex Chronicle that he will take legal action because "I am still not getting what I want".

At some point shall we stop and ask those who 'demand' tolerance, for a road-map of what it is that they "want"?

How much will be enough? Your church is not enough. You cannot practice your faith without question any longer no matter how much you have been promised the ability to do so. Your traditions are not yours. The children are next, and there really is no end to what has been a quickening realignment of what is normal.  the ..

Wait what? The children are OK?

    Go below then.

    Schuette Promises Michigan Will Fight

At least ONE state official recognizes the danger of an activist high court.

In the decision striking down Certain DOMA sections, the court implied much but fell short of 'legalizing' same sex couplings as 'marriage' nationwide.  They cannot, and even as twisted as the court has become, the 'Overton Window' of sorts is not yet aligned with the court bringing outright infringements upon the states. (though Roberts came close with O-Care) However, the court DID refuse to hear the case regarding prop 8 in California, a move that signals to activists nationwide that same-sex bans need only make it to the nearest capitulating federal judge.

That judge can then override the will of the people in a state, and force a perverse application of reality on that state's citizens. And the high court will look the other way.

Attorney General Bill Schuette sees the writing on the wall and has responded:

As you may know, the Michigan Constitution defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman (Article 1, Section 25). This was placed in the constitution after being passed by the voters with 58% of the vote. And this language still stands in Michigan, unaltered by the United States Supreme Court's rulings yesterday.

One of those rulings unfolded due to a very odd twist. In the California case, the Supreme Court declined to hear the case because of a lack of standing. The upshot is that the Supreme Court's ruling left undisturbed a lower court ruling that overturned California's ban on gay marriage.

This situation came about because the California Attorney General refused to defend the law, even though voters in California had approved a definition of marriage as one man and one woman. And so, because the state's attorney general refused to defend the law, the law fell.

That will not happen in Michigan. My pledge to you as your Attorney General is that I will defend Michigan's Constitution and the vote of the people. That is the oath I took on the day I was sworn in, and it's an oath I uphold every day.

And we need more like you Mr AG.

And as an aside? The Supreme Court Of The United States can take their "standing" rule and shove it where the appendix begins.

We ALL have standing when the laziness of case law is the norm.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Walberg Responds To SCOTUS Decision

Rep Tim Walberg (R-7) released the following statement after the Supreme Court's decisions on marriage:

"Today's decisions mean states will continue addressing this issue, but I am troubled by the Court's willingness to allow a district federal court to overrule the people of California who voted to define marriage as between one man and one woman. I remain of the principled belief that marriage should continue to stand for the union of a man and woman. The activist Supreme Court has decided that the desires of adults are more important than the needs of children and the orderly continuance of society. It's also disappointing the Court overruled the Defense of Marriage Act, which passed the legislative branch with bipartisan majorities and was signed into law by President Clinton.  I look forward to having both voters and their elected officials continuing to be engaged on this and many other issues before our democracy."
Marriage IS between a man and a woman.

    Period.

Because the Queers (Their label not mine) want to play house, adopt children to indoctrinate into their LIFESTYLE and get the benefits normal couples receive, this has been pushed. As for those benefits, our tax dollars being used to encourage a perverse and dangerous lifestyle is troubling.  It violates our freedom of conscience.  With the ruling, comes a claim to federal benefits for same sex couples recognized as being legally 'married'.

And our REPUBLICAN Governor is not willing to stand up for the state voters' referendum.

"The decisions just came down and they don't apply to Michigan. So the way I view it is, I'm going to follow what Michigan law is, and I'll keep track of what's going on in the federal courts," Snyder said.
.. until there is some money provided to make up for benefits of same sex (married) partners.

Ya know what?  I feel so safe knowing our governor is out there protecting the sovereignty of our state..  Right.

RNC Passes Agema Resolution Re-Supporting Platform And of Marriage as Between a Man and a Woman

    OK, that settles that.

Today in California, the Republican National Committee passed the resolution proposed to the Resolutions Committee by Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema that re-supported the party platform and defined marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema issued the following statement in response:

"Social Conservatives in recent weeks were disheartened by the rhetoric coming out of the Growth and Opportunity Project with regard to moderating our position on gay marriage.  Simply put, if the party moderated its stance then many of our voters and social conservative leaders would have left the party.

We responded by bringing significant attention to this important issue and ultimately passing a resolution at the RNC that re-confirmed our party platform in favor of marriage being defined as being between a man and a woman.

I am pleased with our success in the face of unrelenting criticism from the left and want to thank national social conservative leaders who made their voices heard loud and clear in this process.

I hope that we can all now move forward and talk about other issues now that we have reconfirmed that our party supports traditional marriage.  We have won the battle, and I will have nothing more to say on this matter."

    I will.

Thank you Mr Agema.  Thank you for re-affirming the strength of character that the Republican party is supposed to represent.  Thank you for the light you have shed on the dark forces within our own party.  Thank you for the courage to take fire from those who stand in opposition to strong families, and healthy citizenry. Thank you for persisting, and prevailing in your well considered arguments.

    You have done us proud.

And our nation is far better off for it.

    Its official..

Nick De Leeuw, the proprietor of this site is getting hitched.

Yup.. It looks like my good friend Nick De Leeuw has decided to tie the knot.  Apparently he has run down to the local sundries store bought the little engagement test kit, and it turned blue, meaning he is engaged to his best gal Sarah Cook..

The little test meters work nearly similarly to the pregnancy tests, but measures a hormone the body produces  usually associated with fear, or panic.  The Hormone develops a thick blue bar at the end of the strip indicating that the chains are firmly being applied.

Man what they won't come up with next..

    Congratulations NICK and SARAH!!

    New "Reform" Law Attacks Marriage

    By Wendy Day, Section News

Yup, that's right. If you were fired up about the gay marriage issue, you should be mad as heck at this. The new healthcare "reform" is bad for a lot of reasons, but this attack on marriage should concern us all.

What happens when young adults have to choose between marriage or healthcare insurance? That is the choice coming soon to a couple near you.

In the first few pages the law indicates that adults, up to age 26, can remain on their parents' healthcare insurance policy. The catch is that the individual must remained unmarried to recieve the benefit.

According to the State of Michigan, 42% of men and 58% of women get married between the ages of 20 and 24. But what happens to that rate if the couple involved wants to stay on their parents' healthcare insurance until age 26?

Will they be more likely to live together first? Only time will tell, but the new law gives young people an incentive to remain unmarried and live together instead. If that happens, those same couples are more likely to either not marry or get divorced if they do marry, at least according to a study quoted in the New York Times.

Help us fight back against the healthcare "reform". Go to www.michiganhcf.com and request a petition to circulate. We need you to stand shoulder to shoulder with us as we fight back. Join us!
