  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Let us entertain you.

    The Romans did just that.

During some of the worst times and under questionable government , Romans were entertained, given food, and kept subservient through all manner of sociological bribery and extravagance. "panem et circenses", as described by period satirist Decimus Junius Juvenalis, (Juvenal) describing the social distractions as "Bread and Circuses".  One could find a number of similarities between the Romans and ourselves as our society engages on its natural path of entropy.  Especially considering the mass distractions of Rome and our era, a few of those similarities are certainly clear, and people are still essentially the same.

Titillation and free stuff is a great way for government to avoid being held accountable for its ongoing failings.

Through 'gladiator' sports such as football, NASCAR or boxing, the excitement easily overcomes what might be the boring responsibility of eternal vigilance.  Movies that demonstrate very real violent performances of the most graphic kind, to the mildly or more severe pornography certainly satiate a number of other necessary diversions.  As a bonus, movies can serve to propagandize watchers in a way not available when the lions tore Christians limb from limb.  If we look, many of us might see in ourselves the very same lust for excitement through the actions of others, and the danger or reward they face or receive.

Mitt Romney's Financial Connections To Conservative Talk Radio

Most people don't like the word "conspiracy" being tossed around when talking about American politics, so I won't use it.

But something's fishy about the way conservative talk radio show hosts are covering the GOP nomination process.

I have been researching this topic and emailing media contacts for a few months now about Mitt Romney's financial connections to Clear Channel Radio and conservative talk show hosts like Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.  What I found out was that Bain Capital actually purchased the syndication companies of major conservative talk radio shows shortly prior to the 2008 presidential election.  Here's a great article about that: CLICK HERE

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Adequately portraying the nation's mob boss, godfather, a 'blinky' Virg Bernero went on the Glenn Beck program tonight defending the NLRB decision to fight Boeing's new $2 Billion SC facility. According to  Bernero and others it is an attempt to lower wages, as "the company makes record profits."

Eric Bolling, filling in for Beck tonight introduced the Lansing mayor Bernero as his "dear friend" before crushing the standard socialist fare with an observation about what Bernero is doing to deal with a deficit in Lansing.  Bernero ackowledged the tax increase he had asked for was turned down by the taxpayers, and that he must lower wages.

    by golly..  no, really?

    Its been a busy year.

In fact, between keeping the business afloat, deaths of family and friends, and personal political bids, its amazing I can even find the wherewithal to think, much less put those thoughts into readable and coherent text.  As a matter of priority however, the text finds its way to the top.  Hopefully as a time goes on, the big picture bears out the information flow's importance and effect on our political landscape, and ultimately on our lives.

The truth shall set us free.  Deception however.. abounds.

As many of you know, the Fake Tea Party here in Michigan is a scam created by those who would prefer to stay in power, or achieve more of it.   It is [assumed to be] nothing more than an attempt by the Michigan Democrat party to steal from good and decent people the most valuable tool they have in keeping liberty.  Used as a tool to steal or nullify their vote.  Typical of the party with no conscience, ideas, or ethical foundation, it really came as no surprise when the formation of "the Tea Party" through a signature gathering effort began.

Do Not Try This At Home

Last week, Glenn Beck pointed out a dirty little secret about the CARS.gov website.  Evidently, there's a little disclaimer that you have to click past in order to do what you want to do.  The problem is that, by using the Cash-For-Clunkers website, you're allowing the government to gain access to your computer, search all of your files, and monitor everything on your PC and everything you do with it!

The video below bears watching.  Though I caution you now . . . do not try this at home.
