    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Hey, we're not California.

The state of California has many new laws for 2012.

Among them, California students will be the first in the U.S. to receive mandatory classroom instruction about the contributions of gays and lesbians to the development of the United States.

With respect to the homosexual community and the Democratic Party, the mother of all contributions to the United States:

Another round (a little out of order) from the Traverse City Debate sponsored by the Grand Traverse Republican Party.

    The Social Security Question.

    Interesting responses.

However, When one looks at the bigger picture of this Ponzi scheme, it seems that some further out of the box answers may be necessary.  Opting out perhaps?

I wonder what Pete Hoekstra or Clark Durant would say?  Shame they didn't show up for this GOP sponsored event.

Enjoy.  Another video will be available later.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

U.S. Senate Debate In Traverse City Part III

This second round has the candidates explaining how they would deal with what is one of the most egregious anti-constitutional laws put on the books in our nation's history.

What about Obama care?  What should we do about it?

As we look to the possible results of next year's elections, the Senate will be playing an important part in how this is handled going forward.  If the SCOTUS says it stands with an expected ruling in April of 2012, it will be especially important to have Senators who are principled enough to destroy it from within the body of its creation.

It was too bad that candidates Hoekstra and Durant "couldn't attend" this debate, as it would have allowed us to see how committed they are in reversing the trend of big government mandates  and encroachment on our rights.  Perhaps for Pete, and his record, its best to stay "mysterious" so that some are easily fooled into thinking he might actually carry sufficient principle into this fight when its time. As For Clark, I don't know him well enough yet.  Maybe a video response by either of them would be a sufficient way to answer?

Gentlemen, its an opportunity if there ever was one.

As promised, here is round one of the Grand Traverse Republican Senate Debate in Traverse City, Michigan.

Less Government, more individual responsibility, and with God's help a better world. Do you have a problem with that as a Senate principle to follow?

Each of the participants had 2 minutes each to answer.

In the morning I should have the remainder of the questions available.

The Grand Traverse County GOP last night held a debate/forum at the governmental center in Traverse City, inviting all of the candidates for US senate to help us determine who might be best to occupy the seat now held by leftist Sen Debbie Stabenow.

Five conservative candidates vying for the Republican nomination felt its was worth their time to speak on matters of national importance, policy and principle. Scotty Boman, Gary Glenn, Randy Hekman, Peter Konetchy, and Chuck Marino attended the affair, with Pete Hoekstra, and Clark Durant conspicuously absent.

This particular clip is an introduction by the moderator, and a follow up self intro by the candidates.

I will be processing the video for each question separately and will post here as they are finished.

Evangelical Environmental Network Runs Misleading Ads

An environmentalist group that claims to be Christian is running ads in Michigan.

    http://creationcare.org/
    http://creationcare.org/blog.php?blog=35
Christian environmental group says the EPA's new rules on mercury pollution is a pro-life issue

The Evangelical Environmental Network is running radio ads in six states.  The ads are virtually identical, merely substituting the name of the state and the senators who are targeted in the ad.  The ads, narrated by "Pastor Tracy" (no last name given) all say that "children here in [state] are vulnerable".  But unless she recorded identical ads in each state, she is LYING about where she is in most or all of the ads.

The ads also reference "members of Congress who say they are pro-life", which is bizarre since since some of those mentioned, including Levin and Stabenow, say no such thing.

I can't claim to be an expert on mercury emissions, but I am extremely skeptical of the scientific claims of environmental organizations, which have a long history of distorting science for their own ends.  But whatever the dangers to the unborn of a few parts per billion of mercury, it pales in comparison to the dangers of BEING STABBED IN THE NECK AND HAVING YOUR BRAINS SUCKED OUT.

Abortion has killed 50 million or so unborn, and Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow are ardent defenders of it.  For "Pastor Tracy" and the EEN to imply that Levin and Stabenow are pro-life is outrageous, and to attempt to use the pro-life cause to promote their environmental agenda is despicable.

The EEN also uses bad theology.  In the Bible, God requires that we "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it."  Earth's resources are there for our use, and while we should use them responsibly, producing energy is essential to our standard of living.  Coal plants are an essential part of our energy production, and taking them away would hurt our economy and even our lifespans.

This congressional election should be rather entertaining.

Saying new leadership is needed in Washington, D.C., Sen. Bert Johnson, D-Highland Park, officially got into the race for 13th Congressional District and will likely challenge veteran U.S. Rep. John Conyers.

Hmmm, a feeble old socialist that won't talk about that Papas deep injection well and whose wifey is locked up in the Federal pen, or...

Johnson served in the state House of Representatives from 2005-10 and was elected to the state Senate in 2010. He said he expects to raise up to $600,000 for the race.

One thing he'll have to face is a 1993 conviction of armed robbery, which he calls a "transgression" when he was 19 and working as a golf caddy at the Oakland Hills Country Club.

So, working in the burb's sticking guns in peoples faces is some silly "transgression".

    But wait, there's more!
