    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    So Much For Dashboard Accountability

In fact, go ahead paint the windshield black and hit the gas.

The Governerd has drawn the line in the embryonic muck used in our universities.  He doesn't want the details of taxpayer funded stem cell research to be TOO transparent. From the Ivory tower:

"Republican Michigan legislators who are trying to force the University of Michigan to provide details on embryonic stem-cell research have a big hurdle to overcome: Gov. Rick Snyder.

Snyder, also a Republican, remains convinced that the Legislature cannot force U-M or other universities to answer questions about stem cells included in budget bills, his spokeswoman told the Free Press."

Of course such transparency might reveal even more of the dirty little secret known as Detroit with its status as abortion capitol.

My goodness we hate to see little shredded blobs of plasma go to waste.  Golly if those mean ol Republicans would just stop nosing around where they aren't welcome!  Just give the money and shut up already.

Anyhow, had to put it out there.  Stay tuned.

Is Ardesta LLC The Real Impediment?

Remember folks, this is only about transparency.

Lansing- The University of Michigan and Michigan State University could lose millions in state aid next year if they don't  comply with legislative dictates that some view as ideological micromanaging of the state's largest universities.

The Republican-run House higher education appropriations subcommittee approved a plan Friday to withhold $4.78 million in state aid from U-M next year if it fails to report how many human embryonic stem cell lines it has in its research labs.

MSU could lose out on $6.79 million for requiring students to have health insurance, the committee said. Under the label of "performance measures," the panel attached the restrictions to a pool of $36 million in new money for universities.

It is very important to note the following.

Voters authorized a constitutional amendment in 2008 to allow Michigan scientists to create embryonic stem cell lines. But lawmakers included a requirement in the 2012 budget to have researchers file an annual report with a handful of figures, including how many stem cell lines it has created.

The Senate and Gov. Rick Snyder did not include such restrictions in their recommended university spending plans, Boulus said.

    Rest here.

    Now, let's flashback to July 19, 2010.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    True Colors Flying

Many folks have been wondering why Rick Snyder won't openly debate the other Republican candidates for Governor.  Some say he does not yet want to be outed as the progressive shill he is.  Some say he is simply "trying to talk directly to the people" instead of participating in an establishment exercise.

    Believable?

Perhaps, as the there are enough potential true Republican Voters who are convinced enough to believe Rick Snyder is worthy of their support for the primary, much less an acknowledgment he is a Republican in the first place.  Something to take seriously when looking at a candidate who hopes to be the standard bearer of the Republican party of Michigan.  To be sure... the GOP can do far better than this RINO. (yeah.. I said it)

Am I being a little strong?

Rick Snyder was the first executive of the MEDC.  He was the pilot of the state of Michigan's voyage into taxpayer pockets with its corporate giveaway program.  These things don't happen by accident.  He does not get selected because he was standing around on a street corner whistling a pretty tune.  He lobbied for, and received the position of Chair of the MEDC at its inception.  Never mind whether it works, or whether the taxpayers even get a benefit out of it.  There is no question he knows the system quite well, because he BUILT IT.

But this isn't where it ends...  It only starts here.. For God's Sake.. please read on..
