    McCotter Ends Write-In Campaign

    U.S. Rep.'s Sole Focus Is Finishing His Term and Aiding His Requested Attorney General Probe

    June 2, 2012

    "I have ended my write-in campaign in Michigan's 11th Congressional District," announced McCotter.

    "One can't clean up a mess multitasking. Honoring my promise to the sovereign people of our community only allows me to finish the official duties of my present Congressional term; and aid the State Attorney General criminal investigation that I requested into identifying the person or persons who concocted the fraudulent petitions that have cost me so dearly.

    "Honoring this promise does not allow me to continue a political write-in campaign. This decision is final, regardless of how swiftly the investigation is concluded."

    "To those who unhappy at this news, I'm sorry; to those happy at this news, you're welcome," McCotter concluded.

    You have a half year to be the BEST damn representative to Michigan, Mr McCotter.

    There are those of us who are happy that you have now taken the higher road, and those who are sad it all happened in the first place. Most of us here right now pretty much happy that there was a candidate of principle who found himself on the ballot.  The possibility of divine providence is not lost in my mind

    I would encourage you to set an example of what it means to have free reign over your conscience once again.

    And not so much as a peep out of Thad McModerate's presser stating that he's supporting the only Republican candidate in CD-11.

    I'm not impressed by his damage control walk back at all.

    ...then I can't help but wonder when the blue-bloods will swallow their pride and finally come out in full-support of Kerry Bentivolio's campaign?

    August isn't that far away.

       Looks like - never. I just found a dandy new message in my e-mail, sent out by the chairman of the 11th district. It's a (push?)poll:

    +++++

    The 11th Congressional District Republican Committee would like your opinion on the race for congress in our district. We would appreciate it if you would take this short survey. :

    In the August Republican Primary would you consider voting for a write in candidate?

        Yes
        No

    From the following list, who would be your FIRST choice as a write in candidate?

        Loren Bennett
        Nancy Cassis
        Mike Kowall
        David Law
        John Pastor
        Rocky Raczkowski
        Kim Small
        Laura Toy
        David Trott
        Paul Welday

    etc.
    +++++

        I'll guess this was sent out to 11th district precinct delegates and/or Republican supporters. The Good Old Boys are aghast that some outsider might gain entry to their exclusive domain, and are evidently busy scrambling to line up some sort of plausible Murkowski. There isn't any sign of supporting the guy who played by their rules and won.

    From today's Free Press: "Not that we have any real authority, but a group of about 25 Republicans are going to get together this week to see who's out there and come up with a person we can all stand behind," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson."
