The Tea Party Is Alive And Well

    In Canada?

Well, maybe not the tea party, but shades of it in the conservative juggernaut that has gripped Michigan's bordering neighbor.  It seems that conservative values are becoming universally more popular as the failure of neo liberalism, (progressivism) become more evident with failing economies worldwide.

In recent elections, Canada's conservative party headed by Stephen Harper has not only gained power but has done so with prejudice:

" ... Mr. Harper would stage a comeback, bringing the Conservatives to power first in 2006 and again in 2008 as leader of minority governments. Finally, on Monday, he scored the first non-Liberal majority in 23 years."

While conservatives here might be even less inclined to some of the social meandering than their Canadian counterparts, this still represents a major shift in consideration of governments role, and might also offer hope for those who think conservatives here might be demoralized enough by certain media reports to abandon the movement that will further repair the political environment in 2012.

Pay attention MR Snyder.  While you are accepting money from the federal government for the implementation of the unconstitutional health care mandate, you should note what one of Canada's early leading socialized medicine advocates had already said years ago.

"We thought we could resolve the system's problems by rationing services or injecting massive amounts of new money into it," says Castonguay. But now he prescribes a radical overhaul: "We are proposing to give a greater role to the private sector so that people can exercise freedom of choice."

And that was merely the first hint that the liberalism run rampant in Canada was destroying an overall quality of life many had become accustomed to.

Medicine, once available to all, deteriorated in the progressive/leftist/liberal health care "rights" model that developed, and the man considered its father said "mmm  maybe not such a grand idea."

Along with the quote above, I pointed out nearly 3 years ago:
"As it took the Canadians several years, in fact decades to discover, not too many of its youth turned to medicine.  At least not enough to adequately serve the public in an efficient manner.  The long term effect of socialized medicine is less availability, as a decision based on reward, and having GOVERNMENT as your silent and misguided partner will restrict the possibility of your earnings.  As with anything government must do, it needs to contain costs from time to time or face a revolt, to do so it would limit compensation to the medically trained, or put unrealistic limits on the ability to charge for particularly difficult procedure."

It was limiting their access already.

And now people are looking at the model which created it, and those who still advocate that model, and saying "not for us anymore." The turnaround may well have come years ago without the neighbor to the south being there with at will medicine. They know they have trouble.

Provincial governments increasingly look to the private sector for relief. Regina, the mid-sized city in Saskatchewan that's considered the birthplace of socialized medicine, has contracted out CAT scanning--its three government scanners couldn't meet capacity, despite running seven days a week. In British Columbia, an estimated 50,000 patients a year are treated in private diagnostic centers (with public funding). Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Canadians opt to pay directly for private service in their own country or in the U.S.--unthinkable a decade or two ago.

Unthinkable, unseeable, and maybe a little unbelievable that free isn't so free, and that control by a top down authority and 'social justice' that is usually associated with leftism might not work in the end.  The first ones on get the deal, always leaving the bill for those who come later.

And like in Michigan and the rest of the United States, enough folks in Canada longed for the good old days enough to throw the bums out and bring a return to prosperity.  Prosperity ONLY available with less top down governance, lower taxes, and a conservative ideology.

    Seems familiar.

We did it in 2010, and there are those who think it will not continue.

Don't believe them.  And don't be afraid to put up primary challengers against those who have not yet gotten the message even while they were given that mandate by thoughts that have now proven to be correct to the north of us.  Its not over, unless we allow it to be over.

A great big thank you goes out to our northern neighbor for a reminder that there is no success to be found in further dalliances with leftist experiments.

Now about that bridge thing ...

...J-man, I haven't better words all day long.

And don't be afraid to put up primary challengers against those who have not yet gotten the message even while they were given that mandate by thoughts that have now proven to be correct to the north of us.

Etch it into your minds, folks.
