Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

    A Civil Affair

A debate is certainly something that would be interesting, were it to happen between the Republican Gubernatorial Choice, and the Democrat Virg Bernero.  The colorful Bernero would undoubtedly get a few news making audio clips, and to be sure this blog would have some fun with them as well.  Perhaps even with a dual edged perspective.

But it appears it won't happen.  At least not anytime soon.  And Bernero is not afraid of a little name calling:

Michigan gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero went on the attack against his Republican opponent on Sunday in Ann Arbor, calling Rick Snyder a "wimp" for backing out of debates.

"You know, he's refused to debate," Bernero told a crowd of about 100 people gathered inside the Michigan Union. "Apparently not only is he a nerd, but a wimp."

    Ouch.. that hurts!  Not.

In front of a friendly crowd, he might be encouraged, even expected to ad hominem a bit.  Certainly the respect level from such a crowd will be greater when the vitriol level goes up.  Those people feed on poison.  Ask GWB for the last 8 years.

Some politicos, with Bernero as no exception do not understand that the ugly should be left in the realm of the blogs however.  Even I have taken a swipe of two (or three)at Snyder, but unless he has some secret polling that completely redefines his "angry base" from what is publicly known, he (Bernero) will not get any traction that way.

    More.. Below

Virg Bernero forgets there is more to this state than a knuckle sandwich and the compulsary methods of "big labor." Forcing businesses through the hoops of his handler's rules might well be easier to accomplish than getting Snyder to cede to a debate format that will be flush with a pro chicken fight format.  Clawing the eyes out might be on ol Virge's mind but Snyder is likely to want it kept on a comfortable basis.

    It probably won't happen?

But that doesn't mean Lansing's lefty wont try and taunt him out.  His camp is already pushing the TV and radio stations to ask Snyder for multiple debates before November.  I suppose his strategy would be to shame Snyder out.  Somewhat like the schoolyard bully however based on his "wimp comment."  It probably will work.  At some point, I would expect that we'll see a debate.

    It will be a spectacle.

Imagine the full blown glory of a Don King production(who I really like) with the "lets get ready to rumble" booming mic announcing the contenders, complete with nicknames and a mention of their tough neighborhood roots.  The crowd would go crazy, and pay-per-view will never see such a profitable enterprise.

    School yard bully indeed.

You know, It wouldn't surprise this writer if the Lansing "Don" hasn't already begun debates with a stress pillow and a mirror..  Just to be ready.

..complete with a couple of "I double dare yas."

    Insanity defined (none / 0) (#1)

We have taken (what little) is left of the diginity in Public Service and debased it with the biffoonery that is campaigning version 2010.   I know, I know," this has gone on since we decided to have the first election"  but has it?   TJ and john Adams sparred, Franklin got some good jabs in, yet can any of us deny the overall quality of the roster?   Snyder and Bernero?   Adams and Jefferson.   Good Lord Almighty I am sorry I evenn typed their names on the same page.

We continue to mention ONLY Bernero and Snyder as though they are the only viable choices.   Mistake.

     Definition:   In.san.i.ty  [in'sanitee]
                                            noun.
the state of being seriously mentally ill; madness:        he continued to do the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.  He was insane.

extreme foolishness or irrationality: it is pure insanity to elect these individuals  [ the insanity of our time

ORIGIN-late 16th century: from the Latin insanitas

Spin this however you like, but candidates debate...that's what they do. If Snyder can't deal with Bernero's barbs in a debate, how is he going to stand up to unions and special interests while he's governor? He needs to get in front of cameras without a net, period. And it's not like it will be difficult to shut Bernero down, especially since people are tired of the standard union line.

Bottom line: grow a pair, "Tough" nerd.  We need you to.

This is obviously a pretty easy one for Snyder, unfortunately. I say that because the questions that need to be asked of him will never be answered. Sure, blogs, newspapers, etc. can put out all they want, but unless pressed into competition in the political sense, the candidate will not be revealed to the voters. Snyder knows that Virgie's type is one of self destruction, spinning into a faster and faster storm, eventually spinning out of existence. He knows as well, that he can just set back and watch the show unfold. I'm just rather disappointed that I'll have to buy clothespins to hold my nose for four years.

There are some really crucial races happening that have nothing to do with Snyder. In my district, John Pastor is going up against the double-dipping, union beholden Glenn Anderson. Obviously Anderson is vulnerable and the conservative vote is going to be so crucial to sending this union thug packing.

There are races like this all over the state. We can't throw in the towel just because of Snyder.
