A good question is whether it costs more politically to debate, or to ignore Bernero entirely?  My guess is Bernero will be about as easily ignored as a bad rash..  just a matter of how long.

Remember too, that folks like ol Virge will self destruct if they are thinking no one is listening.  That may be part of the strategy.
