I have been exceptionally busy with campaigning for my local commission spot, and sometimes may miss a day.  But that doesn't mean it has to be quiet around here.  Right Michigan still remains the premier MICHIGAN based conservative hang out, with some great writers occasionally posting their thoughts. However, with all of the primary action going on across the state, I am somewhat surprised that there hasn't been many gratuitous postings of folks supporting their candidates. (Free Advertising folks..)

    So here is a challenge..

Post something about your favorite local conservative or Republican candidate.  Let us know how they are unique, and what they bring to the table over their primary opponent.  Find something about them that people might not know, that makes them uniquely qualified for the position.  Tell us about a special way they campaign or a trick to get some needed media attention.

As there are often races where a few votes separate 1st place and 1st to lose, it could be YOU that makes a difference.

We completely understand you are extremely busy right now.  We are not going anywhere and remain loyal to this site.  It is also that time of year with grad parties, weddings, vacation plans.

This is a great post though and it will be intersting to see who gets a shout out of support.

    Liberty Walking... (none / 0) (#2)

With so many of our liberties walking of late, I have been in search of a candidate(s) that will, in earnest, work to constitutionally retain them.   I am sad at the gubernatorial playing field, the SOS has got to be looked at very closely based upon the recent SOS project antics and the AG race is critical as well.

So, with that said, (again) I believe there is a true conservative in at least one of these slots with no questionable political baggage or allegiances except for his allegience to our state and his family.

Daniel W. Grow for Michigan State Attorney General.  Take a look and see what I mean.

that Bouchard favors adding a service tax if it is revenue neutral.

I am reminded of the '88 Republican National Convention when someone, I can't quite remember who said, "Read my lips, no new taxes".

Bouchard just slammed the door shut. Any equivocation on tax increases or new taxes is, for me, verboten. I believe he was making the point he'd signed the no new taxes pledge.

The Definition of Insanity is... (none / 0) (#5)
by sailingconservatively on Fri Jun 18, 2010 at 04:15:05 PM EST
...doing the same thing again and again expecting a different result.    Are we insane?   We continue to look to the two party system and wring our hands at the (many) indiosyncratic foibles for each candidate only to settle for what ever is the least offensive or (in the lasts election) oppressive.

What is it that precludes the entry of a independant or a Libertarian if they represent that which is needed?   Are we that myopic?  I am not and have never been a party person.   They are counter productive.   They are incestious and breed like minded individuals.  Why is it that we are still "seeking true conservatives" if this party was truly the bastion of conservatism?   Is it time?   Time will tell.   I am tired of the insanity.  I will vote for nothing that has a GOP or DEM adjacent.   Snyder? Scheutte? Cox? Dillon? Bernaro?   Seriously?   You have to do better, you CAN do better.    We just have to step outside the status quo and research everyone.   It is far too important not to.

Geez, I was at the point of saying Yes! to the Bouchard campaign and Mike comes up with a SERVICE TAX!  YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING, HUH!  What are you now, Mike, Granholm II?
Michigan needs to lower taxes on businesses, not raise them!  Michigan needs to make it less expensive to make things in Michigan than anywhere else in the country and/or world, not more expensive!  If Michigan politicians would lower business taxes and regulatory expenses businesses would flock to Michigan and taxes from those new faces working here in Michigan would bring Michigan back from the brink!
