      While I held my nose pulling the lever for McCain in '08 I cannot begin to express how many things would be different today had he won.  Elections matter.  One may vote for Perot, Nader, or the Libertarian of Brief Notoriety but it still will add up to a wasted vote.  If one is unhappy with the party that most mirrors one's beliefs then one is best advised to try to change that party's platform.  Abstaining or voting for a fringe candidate does nothing except impart a sense of self-righteousness in the voter.  The object is to win the election, not make a statement.
