Besides, this really isn't a hit on free speech. Want to run under your own political party without all the bullshit? Run as a write-in, and then advertise the hell out of yourself under your political party. The only thing that the petition does is get the party on the ballot - that's all from what I can tell (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
