    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Betsy DeVos Sets The Wrong Table

Truly a loss to the GOP if Betsy DeVos remains committed to her recent effort of removing Dave Agema from the position of Republican National Committeeman.

There was a reason he won the position in the first place; as someone who would hold TRUE to conservative Republican principles, and strengthen them in the national platform.  While the establishment Republicans are decrying Democrats as "bad," Committeeman Agema was rebuilding the foundation so Republicans could say why.  Real fiscal restraint, real solutions aimed at preserving families and traditions that have made this country great.

And the feeble sensibilities of an offended malcontent within the party continuously stirs up sympathy for the other side's (progressive Dems for those of you who remain unsure) point of view?

"Hey look at me! I am a Republican and I don't like your stand on what I like to do, so you better tolerate my perverse lifestyle or I will forever more divide the party until I get what I want!  You can call it a big tent if you want."
And like the 'Tasmanian Devil' of the cartoon world, shredding the bonds of good conservatives, and instilling doubt upon the conscience of a party that once at least as a promise, stood for decency and honor.

When moral restraint is removed in one way, it certainly follows that the caps are off in others too.

A sin is a sin is a sin, right?

So lets talk more below the fold.

    They Don't HAVE To Eat

No one is jamming anything down their throats.

Somehow I doubt that if the Democrats in prison (given a higher incidence of Democrat criminality, I use them in this example) were to claim they should be served no-fat lattes, it would be laughed at.  At what point does a political ideology of a prisoner dictate how we feed him or her? From the Ivory Tower:

"A federal lawsuit was filed today against the Michigan Department of Corrections, alleging several Muslim inmates aren't getting enough "nutritional" food during the month-long fast of Ramadan and are being forced to eat foods that violate their religious beliefs."
They can eat the swill the others are eating.  They ARE criminals, right?

Consider it a part of their debt to society. The Michigan department of corrections should not cave under any circumstance to this type of suit that is meant to undermine the operations of our prisons. Rewarding this group CAIR and the dangerous ideology they represent by acceding to their demands, is unnecessary, and dangerous policy capitulation.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

So Moderate Islam Is NOT Compatible

    With a constitutional Republic?

What is it? Yea or nay? Yes or No?  Is the average 'moderate' Muslim a danger to our constitutional Republic?  Is there an underlying desire to dismantle our bill of rights because of hurt religious feelings?  Given this:

"Protesting the film, "Innocence of Muslims," that has sparked protests in the Mideast, rally organizer Tarek Baydoun says that so-called blasphemy laws are necessary to prevent speech that hurts the "the religious feelings of Muslims."
    One might think so.

Lets just take this a step further.

If these are NOT representing the 'moderate' Islamists in our midst, then what are they representing?

Its not as if one would feel compelled to walk away from such examples of tolerance.

    First Amendment restored in Dearborn.

DETROIT - A federal judge sided with Terry Jones Thursday and granted a temporary restraining order against the city of Dearborn.

Calling it "clearly unconstitutional," U.S. District Judge Denise Page Hood blasted the city's demand that Jones and his supporters sign a hold-harmless agreement in order to obtain a permit to speak against Islam in front of Dearborn's Islamic Center of America.

Suh-weet! ...and to think that Ms. Barnhardt just celebrated a 1-year anniversary too.

    Bacon.  Mmmmm, bacon.

How many lawsuits will it take for folks in that 24.5 sq miles of Progressive rubble to understand our U.S. Constitution?  Pastor Jones isn't cowering from Mayor O'Reilly's pandered proliferation of sharia in America.

The issue of free speech was fiercely debated Thursday in a Detroit courtroom, where a judge said he would decide next month whether it was OK for authorities to have jailed Quran-burning pastor Terry Jones and ordered him to stay away from a local mosque for three years.

Jones of Gainesville, Fla., was convicted in April by a Dearborn jury of being likely to breach the peace because of his plans to protest outside the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn. He was ordered to stay away from the mosque.

Attorneys for Jones appealed the decision, saying it violated his constitutional rights.

Exit question: Ms. Worthy, which one of your dunderheads with a law degree is arguing against the First Amendment?

A Republic ... If You Can Keep It

So said Benjamin Franklin in response to our created nation.  No words could be more timely than today.

A state lawmaker wants Michigan to join the trend of states banning "foreign laws," but Muslim activists say the effort is a thinly veiled attack on Islam.

Rep. Dave Agema, R-Grandville, is pushing a bill to bar the implementation of foreign laws. It doesn't mention Sharia -- Islamic law -- but he acknowledged it would be prohibited in courts under the legislation intended to prevent anyone "who tries to shove any foreign law down our throats."

"No foreign law shall supersede federal laws or constitution or state laws or constitution," Agema said. "Our law is our law. I don't like foreign entities telling us what to do."

Agema said his bill would protect the "vast majority" of Muslims, whom he contended "come to this country to get away from Sharia."

But, is that really what the muhammadans want?
