    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

It appears the Rick Nerdholm push-back in the Senate is finally start to happen.  Senator Jack Brandenburg-R has introduced SB 906 that if passed, will place the State Income Tax rollback again on its proper course.

Thanks to Sens. David Robertson, James Marleau, David Hildenbrand, Howard Walker, Patrick Colbeck, Michael Kowall, Michael Green, Rick Jones, Joseph Hune, Tory Rocca, Tupac Hunter for cosponsoring.

Leader Richardville, all eyes are watching you.

    via detnews.com

State House Speaker Jase Bolger, R-Marshall, said Friday that the House wants to wait until after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on President Barack Obama's federal health reforms to decide its next steps on the exchange.

"The governor and I are not in agreement on this issue," he said. "The rights of our citizens to control their own health care is more important than an IT (information technology) deadline."

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette is supporting the legal effort to get the federal reforms declared unconstitutional.

State Rep. Chuck Moss, R-Birmingham, who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, also said the GOP caucus doesn't want to act unless it has to.

"We don't like Obamacare; we don't like national health care. We don't think it's good for the country; we don't think it's good for Michigan," Moss said. "We don't want to be early adopters and go down that road if we don't have to."

Could we be witnessing Speaker Bolger growing into a leader within the Republican Party?

    Time will tell...

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Nice job ramming this one through, Richardville.

This is why the public has a low opinion of Michigan's lawmakers: They may end their deluxe retiree health care benefits, but only after making some 42 additional lawmakers eligible.

State senators voted Wednesday to cut off the benefit for those lawmakers who haven't served at least six years by Jan. 1, 2013. By changing the bill from one that would have ended vesting on Jan. 1, 2007, they would extend the benefit to 42 additional lawmakers (and their eligible dependents).

    Rest here

I'm forced to side with Senator Coleman Youngs' lone NO vote?  Ain't that just a b!tch?
