    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

And By The Way, Lansing Rally Tomorrow.

I don't think I am the only one to greet Mitt Romney's announcement that he will be seeking the presidency with a total yawn. Neither exciting nor a practical change agent, Romney represents ALL that is wrong with moderate Republicanism.

Perhaps I could sum it up in one word: "Romneycare"

Add to this, he has already misjudged 60% of the primary electorate by coming out of the gate saying he believes Obama is a legit president, or at least that he is a citizen.

"I think the citizenship test has been passed. I believe the president was born in the United States. There are real reasons to get this guy out of office ..."

First off, count me as somewhat of a birther.  Or at least as one who believes like that crazy-like-a-fox Trump, that Obama has some issues tied with the birth record he has spent gawd-awful amounts of money hiding. Not a good enough reason on its face? I mean seriously Mitt, 60% of people who voted with the Republicans think he wasn't born here.  And as to the citizenship test, which one was that? Are you simply trying to not be skewered by the media that you expect to put you in as a McCain type who was easily controlled for 2012?

Controllable and easily manipulated.  What a weasel.  If he wins the primary, we will have another term of the worst president ever, because people will again sit on their hands.  He would probably sell us out like Bush did when the bank situation arose anyhow.  No principle whatsoever.  No personal constitution.

This time we need to take a real look at the 'posers' like Romney, Gingrich, and even Huckabee who wouldn't do what needs to be done.  Talk a great talk, but look at their records.  At least Huckabee would be likely to look at a Fair Tax.  I could vote for him.  Even with him saying Obama grew up in Kenya, when we all know his childhood was spent in Indonesia.

Problem with that?  See the "57 states" comment by the guy who is our current white house occupant.  Actually, Kindergarten is where we learn how many states there are.  Some of us actually might have learned about how Puerto Rico and Guam fit into the scheme too.  But the dweller of 1600 Pennsylvania avenue never picked that up apparently.

And that occupant has a lot of questions that have yet to be answered. ~ more below ~

    Big Surprise

I did not see this coming.

Everyone who's familiar with me is well aware that I'm a big fan of Mike Huckabee.  This is for multiple reasons.  The guy's a solid conservative and was - in my opinion - a better choice than John McCain for the Republican presidential ticket in 2008.  Most importantly, as far as I'm concerned, is the fact that Governor Huckabee is an open proponent of the National FairTax Initiative.  (Yes, he's also an open supporter of the Michigan FairTax Proposal.)

With that in mind, I fully expected that Governor Huckabee would, if he endorsed anyone in the Michigan Gubernatorial race, be endorsing Pete Hoekstra (who has openly endorsed both the national initiative and the state proposal).  Congressman Hoekstra has also actively and constructively engaged the Michigan TEA Party Movement, and I recall well that grassroots engagement was what kept Huckabee in the Republican primary race as long as he was.  I also know for a fact that HuckPAC will not endorse, support, or otherwise back any candidate who doesn't support the FairTax initiative.

So you can imagine my surprise when, around 8:30 this morning, I received a phone call from a close friend who just happens to be an insider to the Mike Cox gubernatorial campaign.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Breaking - Endorsement

The first major endorsement for the Michigan Governor's race has been made.  The Mike Cox for governor campaign reports that it now sports an endorsement from Former Arkansas Governor Republican Mike Huckabee.  News release at 10AM of Huckabee's endorsement demonstrates the importance of the Michigan Governor's race with national politics, by attracting a former presidential candidate's favor to the campaign.

Huckabee says "Mike Cox is best described as Michigan's Pro life conservative candidate for governor."  Expect more of Huckabee's statement to be provided by the Cox camp later in the day either here or in other media sources.

The Michigan Governor's Race on the republican side includes attorney general Mike Cox, Michael Bouchard, Pete Hoekstra and Rick Snyder.  The Democrats so far are putting forward Andy Dillon, Alma Wheeler, and Virge Bernero.

Team Huck is a brand new grassroots movement that is sweeping across American homes on a local level. www.HuckPac.com

This organization is backed by the same brilliant team that gave Governor Huckabee second place in the presidential primary. Huckabee came very close to beating John McCain, even though he spent less than half of the funds that some of the candidates did in the primaries.

Online campaigning is the future of political grassroots and it will be very key to the GOP/Conservative comeback in Michigan.
