The first major endorsement for the Michigan Governor's race has been made.  The Mike Cox for governor campaign reports that it now sports an endorsement from Former Arkansas Governor Republican Mike Huckabee.  News release at 10AM of Huckabee's endorsement demonstrates the importance of the Michigan Governor's race with national politics, by attracting a former presidential candidate's favor to the campaign.

Huckabee says "Mike Cox is best described as Michigan's Pro life conservative candidate for governor."  Expect more of Huckabee's statement to be provided by the Cox camp later in the day either here or in other media sources.

The Michigan Governor's Race on the republican side includes attorney general Mike Cox, Michael Bouchard, Pete Hoekstra and Rick Snyder.  The Democrats so far are putting forward Andy Dillon, Alma Wheeler, and Virge Bernero.

I would not count this endorsement as a winner for Cox. And I don't think Huckabee is a front runner for 2012.  Far from it!

Does not impress me but I am not a fan of Mike Cox either.

But that's more to do with his economic views than his social views. It appears that his social views influenced his endorsement of Mike Cox.

Mike's pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment, and has proven himself there.

Is this the best Michigan can do? (none / 0) (#8)

Huck endorsing Cox just tells us that opportunistic creeps tend to chum around together.

    The problem (none / 0) (#9)

The problem with all of the candidates on the R side is I don't see them having the nads to CUT the budget, CUT the spending, CUT the size of our government and CUT the unions and all the other drastic CUTTING that needs to be done.

Look at what Christie is doing in New Jersey.  He is laying out the facts and figures and letting the people know that the spending cannot be sustained.  Especially when it comes to union wages, fringes, health care, retirement, etc.  People need to know that the money just is not there.
