U.S. Rep. Fred Uptons' $50 Light bulbs

    From Big Government

Two leading makers of lighting products are showcasing LED bulbs that are bright enough to replace energy-guzzling 100-watt light bulbs set to disappear from stores in January.

Their demonstrations at the LightFair trade show in Philadelphia this week mean that brighter LED bulbs will likely go on sale next year, but after a government ban takes effect.

The new bulbs will also be expensive -- about $50 each -- so the development may not prevent consumers from hoarding traditional bulbs.

Read the whole thing here. The author of the light bulb ban, GOP Rep. Fred Upton, promised to revisit this nanny law as a condition of being given the gavel of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Color us unsurprised that he has reneged on that promise. You know what you should do. In 2010 we had to defeat Democrats. Time now to defeat Republicans.

Anytime a Republican behaves Progressive like their Neocommunist brethren across the aisle, they should be defeated.

That as part of the legislation banning regular bulbs, he didn't set a quota on how many regular bulbs you could purchase in a given time period.

And with my True Value rewards card, I can earn a ton of bonus points to change over my entire house to make things compliant with our benevolent republican elected servants mandate.

    Thanks Rep. Upton (NOT!).

I wouldn't hold my breath, CS. I'd expect that repeal to come roughly about the same time Speaker Boehner actually follows through with his pledge to require constitutional citation on all new bills being presented in Congress before consideration.

Maybe Rep. Upton could do an end-run around his own bill and request a ton of waivers in the meantime? Hey, It worked in her district.

Let's set up a federal "Lightbulb Clunker" program through which the government pays us $49 each to give them our burnt-out regular lightbulbs.  Can't let the deficit get in the way of doing something IMPORTANT like this.

replace a couple of night lights.  Couldn't find the old fashioned ones so had to buy the LED.  What a POS.  There is NO light!!!  I think I am just going to turn a flashlight on and leave it in the hallway before I go to bed.
