Canadian Magna Allows Washington Lobbyist Call For Boycotting The City Of Troy

Ya, that's a headline you won't be reading in the news, nor ever overhear the GoverNerd discussing in Lansing.  But, it accurately is fact that Magna, founded by a narcissistic liberal Canadian billionaire (Think their version of a poor man's Donald Trump who ran for Prime Minister with similar disastrous results) had their Washington lobbyist for things such as expanding union labor Card Check legislation, Corporate Tax Credits and Loopholes lining Magna Canuck pockets with U.S. taxpayer money through Chevy Volt like subsidies, just declare economic war on an American city.

Frank W. Ervin III, manager of government affairs for Magna International Inc., made the comment in an email Tuesday to the president of the Troy Chamber of Commerce, Michele Hodges. In the private message to Hodges, Ervin called the city's leaders "narrow-minded when it comes to the future of Troy and the future of Southeastern Michigan" for rejecting $8.4 million in federal aid.

In the email, Ervin thanked the chamber president for her efforts to win approval for the transit center and said he plans to draft a memo to all Magna group presidents and corporate executives "strongly recommending" that the automotive supplier "no longer consider the City of Troy for future site considerations, expansions or new job creation."

Can you get over the set on this guy?  Make no mistake about it, Frank Ervin is the Van Jones of the Magna Internationals' wealth redistribution GreenTard movement.  It becomes difficult to ignore that Canadian Magna, which surprise surprise, also owns BluWav, really hasn't left any U.S. taxpayer subsidy unturned.  TEA folk around the state might want to sharpen up and take note of their surroundings.  They've been way too soft on letting such things happening right under their noses go undetected, and let go on without objection.

    Oh, and the GoverNerd?

Yup.  As predicted correctly, the crony capitalist Big Government GoverNerd is p!ssed.

On Tuesday, Gov. Rick Snyder's office expressed its dismay at the city's action in a statement provided by the state Department of Transportation.

"The governor is disappointed with the Troy City Council's rejection of the federal grant to design and build a rail station in Troy. The station is a key destination along the new high-speed rail line and to connect with routes for regional transit," the statement said. "We are reviewing our options for utilizing the grant, including the potential transfer of the grant to another applicant."

Oh noes!  Another opportunity may be lost with spending more of our Federal indebted to China money, GoverNerd?  Not to worry your slovenly attired little liberal Ann Arbor head, Ricky... you got friends on your side.

U.S. Rep. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Township, wrote Tuesday to Snyder and U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood in hopes of keeping the federal aid in Metro Detroit. Peters suggested building a transit facility in Royal Oak as a possibility.

"We'll do what we can to make sure the federal money stays in the greater Detroit area," he said.

What part of our nation is broke do these ruling class asshats not yet understand?  This ongoing central planned Fabian Society concept of statewide Amtrak isn't about jobs, it's a Wellsian scale ruling class Eloi plundering of taxpayer funds for incestuous government partnered businesses that's leading everyone closer to the rearranging of deck chairs on the future generations Titanic.

The council turned down the center by a 4-3 vote after the panel listened to about 40 residents and stakeholders share their views for and against the project.

Daniels and council members Dave Henderson, Doug Tietz and Wade Fleming refused to award an architectural and engineering contract to design the facility. Mayor Pro Tem Maureen McGinnis and council members Jim Campbell and Dane Slater supported it. An approval was needed to meet deadlines to keep the funds. The center was slated to open in October 2013.

Hodges said despite the vote, the chamber isn't ready to admit defeat. She said the group will work with its partners to see whether there are ways to keep the funds in Troy and save the project.

"This organization will be a pit bull in its quest for what will maintain an investment-worthy environment in Troy," she said. "We will go to the stake in protecting our assets, and we will aggressively work with Magna International to preserve its stake here."

There's your challenge TEA movement in Troy.  You have been put on notice by your Chamber of Commerce President that it's openly hostile to you the taxpayer, and your fiscally responsible elected Officials, while in full support of crony capitalism and a foreign business historically subsidizing its profits on your back.

It's TEA time to get off your asses, show a presence of support, and clean house in your city, eh?

Frankly, its a great post scales.

I find it incredible, the amount of rent seeking going on, and the hands out in all levels of business, both foreign and domestic.

This picking of winners and losers sucks.

    Great content.

In what could be a new high water mark of anti-Washington sentiment, the city of Troy, Mich., is rejecting a long-planned transportation center whose construction would have been fully financed with federal stimulus money.

The terminal, which would help Troy become a transportation node on an upgraded Detroit-to-Chicago Amtrak line, was hailed by supporters as a way to create jobs and to spur economic development. But federal money is federal money, so with the urging of the new mayor, who helped found the local Tea Party chapter, the City Council cast a 4-to-3 vote this week against granting a crucial contract, sending the project into limbo.

"There's nothing free about government money," Mayor Janice Daniels said in an interview. "It's never free, and it's crippling our way of life."

Other Republican officeholders have said "Thanks, but no thanks" to federal money for high-speed rail: Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin rejected an $810 million federal grant to extend passenger rail from Milwaukee to Madison; Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey killed a project to dig a new commuter rail tunnel under the Hudson River. But those actions have generally involved criticism of the underlying logic of the projects, or projections of enormous costs to be borne down the line by state and local governments.

    Rest here.

    Right on, Mayor Daniels!
