To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

Some tips:

Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

A Michigan Senator's Union Play?

I have mentioned before, there is more to the Michigan senate races than just getting your guy in place. Conservative voters need to impress upon their prospective state Senators, that the gatekeeper needs to reflect the conservative direction being shown in the state and country today. Not because its the 'in thing', but rather because it is right. I realize this is another one of those things that we hate to see BEFORE the election, but because the election of the leadership position will happen immediately, it is important your candidate knows where YOU stand.

First the facts.

The two prospects being considered for the republican Senate leader's spot are John Proos, and Randy Richardville.
Both men have voting records that can be examined, and both have good and bad history to look at.
Proos voted FOR the smoking ban. (bad) Richardville voted against it. (good)
Richardville voted to essentially make illegal, the casual carpenter, as a profession, while Proos openly supports Right-to-Work.
Proos would be a first term senate member, and Richardville would/will be serving a second term.
The vote for Senate leader is a secret ballot.

There are indeed things good and bad, and my own opinion on property rights miff me a little about Both of them. For different reasons however. Be that as it may, my own balance leans me towards support of John Proos because I hate the theft of my hands, worse than theft of the ability to blow smoke in some jerks face. But Proos faces a handicap for this race, because it will be his first term as a Michigan Senator. First, some might argue his experience with another term could be beneficial, and then there are the aspirations of other Senators who will be in their first term. Nothing so big that couldn't be overcome with normal electioneering.

But another interesting point seems to have popped up.

Stopping Card Check

I am a recent GM retiree and a Union member. I have had intimate experience with the UAW during my 30 years as a GM employee. I believe there was a time where the Union did serve a purpose. However, my experience has shown that the UAW has become what at one time they fought against, a bloated, corrupt, bureaucracy run on nepotism.
