While the country is watching Wisconsin, this might be the best time in which to look at the way organized labor interacts with its employers. In this case that would be the public, as taxpayers. The entire affair and the disconnect that the public sector unions have with reality, underlines the failure that is government, where such entities have undue influence. A small request to have a slightly larger contribution for the public employee benefits is met with an "on no you don't!"
In other words, the bigger the labor presence, the better chance of financial ruin for governments both large and small. For me, it seems that jobs lost, would be far worse than the alternative of giving up a little in concessions. Wisconsin has all eyes on it, and there are those of us who frankly hope they are open to de-certification of the public sector unions. However, we might not be holding our breath in anticipation. At the very least we can use this attention to point out that Michigan, like Wisconsin needs to face down the public sector 'occupation' by big labor, and restore a little sanity by passing right to work legislation, and addressing the disparities between public and private sector benefit costs, which would solve the state's budget woes nearly by itself. Our legislators need your support and encouragement. The pro labor forces are paying people to bus in and attend pro labor rallies in many states including Michigan. They have one scheduled for tomorrow.
Be there for a counter-rally. Southwest Michigan Patriots Tea Party Rally Lansing, Tuesday Feb. 22nd From 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. State Capitol, West Side along Walnut St. Get pictures, and take video. More on this later. (11 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Had a larger piece working to give a wrap up, but all things considered, It may not happen today or even tomorrow.
In the mean time.. First off, I don't believe that you could write the stuff that is going on in Wisconsin. In the same way Benny hill ended his PBS shows several years ago, it seems the Democrats have resigned themselves to the Yakkity Sax exit from responsibility. Tea partiers chasing them around catching them and then they go and hide elsewhere. The responsibility to VOTE is apparently required by law, yet there they are throwing a tantrum and taking their marbles for a trip home via the Holiday Inn. (or whatever hotel chain holds a bus load of delinquent legislators. I would like to offer a toast to our neighboring Wisconsin's governor, for his courage to demonstrate the universality of weaselness shared by the lefty weasels in the Democrat Party. All he has done is shine a light on the true nature of progressivism, and its failure to face responsibility ANYWHERE. Cheers Gentlemen! (and Ladies) I will drink a particularly tall celebratory drink to the expected future political successes of Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin. Carry on. (12 comments) Comments >>
