This second round has the candidates explaining how they would deal with what is one of the most egregious anti-constitutional laws put on the books in our nation's history.
What about Obama care? What should we do about it? As we look to the possible results of next year's elections, the Senate will be playing an important part in how this is handled going forward. If the SCOTUS says it stands with an expected ruling in April of 2012, it will be especially important to have Senators who are principled enough to destroy it from within the body of its creation. It was too bad that candidates Hoekstra and Durant "couldn't attend" this debate, as it would have allowed us to see how committed they are in reversing the trend of big government mandates and encroachment on our rights. Perhaps for Pete, and his record, its best to stay "mysterious" so that some are easily fooled into thinking he might actually carry sufficient principle into this fight when its time. As For Clark, I don't know him well enough yet. Maybe a video response by either of them would be a sufficient way to answer? Gentlemen, its an opportunity if there ever was one. As promised, here is round one of the Grand Traverse Republican Senate Debate in Traverse City, Michigan.
Less Government, more individual responsibility, and with God's help a better world. Do you have a problem with that as a Senate principle to follow? Each of the participants had 2 minutes each to answer.
In the morning I should have the remainder of the questions available. By JGillman, Section Multimedia
The Grand Traverse County GOP last night held a debate/forum at the governmental center in Traverse City, inviting all of the candidates for US senate to help us determine who might be best to occupy the seat now held by leftist Sen Debbie Stabenow.
Five conservative candidates vying for the Republican nomination felt its was worth their time to speak on matters of national importance, policy and principle. Scotty Boman, Gary Glenn, Randy Hekman, Peter Konetchy, and Chuck Marino attended the affair, with Pete Hoekstra, and Clark Durant conspicuously absent. This particular clip is an introduction by the moderator, and a follow up self intro by the candidates. I will be processing the video for each question separately and will post here as they are finished. (1 comment) Comments >> By JGillman, Section Multimedia
Here is the final cut of Future President Herman Cain's visit to Traverse City, MI Nov 10, 2011.
If you weren't there along with the 1200 plus who rallied fast with only a day and a half notice, here is a HIGH DEF version of Herman Cain's speech.

What an incredible evening.
After the debate, the Cain train made it to Traverse City. I'll hit on it a little more tomorrow, and probably feed pictures and video for the next week, but I felt the need to get this out tonight. On short notice, a few conservatives were able to pull together a little gathering for Herman Cain to get a little more base support for Michigan activities. Some of that support is being recruited at the michigansupportscain.com website. What we thought initially to be a 2-300 person affair, grew in our minds to 500-600 shortly before the event. Folks, we had well over 1200 (maybe 1500) with standing room only and overflow, including the necessity to not allow any more folks inside dues to fire regs. The man who would be the Presidential nominee for the Republican party not only charmed the crowds, but those in the media as well, garnering favorable coverage throughout the entire night. His straight forward way of talking, and inspiring story continues to captivate and win over new Cain supporters every time he speaks. I could not have wished for a better turn out of enthusiastic supporters during this night where EVERYTHING went right. By JGillman, Section News
Just in case SB 638 doesn't get anywhere:
Traverse City, Michigan: El candidato presidencial republicano Herman Cain se reunirá con simpatizantes y al público en general en un país libre "conocer y saludar", el jueves, 10 de noviembre a entretenimiento Streeter y el Centro de salones de Garfield Avenue, en Traverse City. Las puertas se abrirán a las 7 pm, con Caín espera que llegue a las 8pm. And if you aren't sure about what is happening based on the story above, use the force .. or Google translator. Oh yeah, there will be other locations as well. Contact your local Tea Party, or Republican party to see where and when. By JGillman, Section News
All politics are local. But..
Earlier this year, much happened that thickened my skin to the viciousness that the left will gladly dole out. Part of the agenda that I apparently threatened was the homosexual agenda, or rather the normalization of it so that it is palatable to families, and particularly the youth of our state. Today, one part of the Leftist normalization agenda faces a voter challenge. The unanimous vote to support a special rights ordinance by city commissioners in Traverse City sets the stage for a "Saugatuck of the north" or perhaps a little San Francisco, something I would prefer to not see. Last night I stated my objection to this ordinance. ~ below ~ (4 comments, 140 words in story) Full Story
