    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Sammie Speech

This will likely be the last self promotion I will have on this, but there will be additional Sammie videos posted in the multimedia section as time allows.

I was a finalist, then won, and split the prize with Chetly Zarko for the watchdog award at the Sam Adams Alliance event as mentioned previously.

The other two finalists Rob Port of Minot ND, and Sherry Loar of Petoskey were both worthy of this award, so its with a greater sense of humility that I accepted it.  Its really a big deal. Rob runs a watchdog type blog which is like a combination of the Blog Prof's site, and RightMichigan.com.  Sherry took the lead as the plaintiff fighting the forced unionization scam, who sacrificed both monetarily and psychologically in dealing with the collusive measure brought about by the last administration and their union cronies.

I was in very respect worthy company.

I should note that I am not the greatest speaker, and I do not travel with dueling teleprompters. So this award might well be seen as the greatest speaking fee I should ever expect to see.  I guess that is OK, as long as I can keep the pen to the page (so to speak) to entertain and inform.

The video with Eric Rothoff and myself during the acceptance is below the line.

For this writer, it doesn't take much to elicit an opinion or engage in an argument of policy. Part of the overall process of the argument is the knowing of whether one has the tools of proof, or something to back up the opinion held.

I hold a lot of opinion.

The validation of what we had considered early in the new political 'tea party' was indeed a motivating factor in finding the truth.  It was a nearly unanimous thought among political watchers that the effort MUST be the efforts by Democrats who knew they were about to have their clocks cleaned politically.  The signature campaign identified early by Chetly Zarko as being run by Progressive Campaigns Inc gave even more weight to the theory, and the ultimate release of the candidate slate provided my own investigation with the necessary smoking gun.

There were likely 100 people working on this as it developed.  Our consideration of what was really the truth, motivated, and guided investigators and tea party types across the state. The stealth efforts of the Michigan Democrat party needed to be exposed by making the connections to the candidates. The race to discovery was on when the slate emerged, and I was lucky enough to cross the finish line first with the connection to THOSE GUYS who had such disregard for integrity, that they would have to defraud Michigan for political advantage.

Our effort, paid off, and my own resulted last night in an honor I had only dreamed of.

    The 2011 Sammie Watchdog Award.

    Now I am really motivated.

    Sammie Finalists

This is merely one section of the awards being given April 8, 2011 in Chicago by the Sam Adams Alliance.

    In the WATCHDOG category...

Rob Port, of Minot, North Dakota, is the publisher of Say Anything, North Dakota's most widely read blog. The blog regularly uncovers stories involving government waste, corruption, and the misappropriation of public funds.

Ben Joravsky, of Chicago, Illinois, is a journalist for the Chicago Reader and a long-time government watchdog. Thanks to Joravsky's investigative reporting, accountability for tax increment financing (TIF) funds became a major issue in the 2011 Chicago mayoral elections, with momentum for great accountability in the future.

then.. there is a complete unknown.

Jason Gillman, of Traverse City, Michigan, & Chetly Zarko, of Lansing, Michigan, uncovered evidence of a fake "Tea Party" that was set to run on the November ballot in nearly 24 toss-up races across the state. Because of their work, the Michigan Supreme Court removed the fake "Tea Party" from the ballot before the November elections.

This year, the winner receives a $10,000 award, or a really cool snuggie.  Cold winter nights, combined with the falling dollar really make the decision which would be better more difficult .

    Envelope please?
