Tag: Photo IDBy JGillman, Section News
Many have pushed back on the idea of pictured ID being used to verify voters at the ballot box. Conservatives believe that voting is one of the most sacred institutions in our Republic.
In Michigan, voters are now required to provide photo ID to be able to vote in person. However, another issue must still be corrected: "Her toughest legislative hurdle will be to get "no reason" absentee voting adopted, Johnson said. Voters who are not disabled or under age 60 must currently give a reason for not voting on Election Day. Johnson is SPOT ON with her follow up of this loose end. Absentee voting is not a problem with the appropriate protections in place.
A recent 'gotcha' video by James O'Keefe demonstrates clearly, the need for identification before voting. The thought that wholesale fraud might occur (and likely has) with absentee registration that does not validate whom might be casting the vote ought to chill one to room temperature, wherein they might then be more qualified.
