~ Note ~ This article was written before the sudden turnabout by the NRSC this morning. It is reported now that the NRSC is fully backing O'Donnell, and giving her campaign $42,000. There may well be a person fired in the end, but after the emotional hit, better reasoning may yet prevail. ~
Somebody should be fired on the NRSC. Not for making a decision to not help the newest GOP candidate for Senate in DE, but for demonstrating its rancor on the eve of her selection as the party's candidate for November. Bad enough was the open disapproval of Delaware's O'Donnell by the NRSC prior to the election, but unacceptable is the notion that the National GOP committee would deliberately sabotage a campaign that is now in their best interest to at least verbally support, if financially they might even feel it is not worth. An Un-named NRSC person apparently told news sources yesterday that:
"O'Donnell will have to show she can generate viable support before the national party will give her money. .. It is now incumbent on Sarah Palin, (U.S. Sen.) Jim DeMint and the Tea Party Express to help support her, ..They got her here. Now make it happen." Bitter much? Truth be told, in the context of the political battle waged, the reasoning is actually sound. But it did not need to be said.. at least not THEN. It was a shot across the bow of the Tea Party folks who have literally destroyed the NRSC hopes of keeping its influence in high profiles races intact. The NRSC has faced down the Tea Party influence and LOST 8 times. Somebody's undies are getting all bunched up... And they need a vacation. A permanent one. But why does this matter to us in Michigan? (22 comments, 935 words in story) Full Story |
