  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Sharing The Big Numbers

Once again, we will be cleaning up the link fest at the bottom right. Those sites that haven't had any changes in a couple years will likely be removed.

RightMichigan.com is seeing unprecedented popularity, and the ranking for this site has improved by a third in the last two months alone.  As this is typed, RM is ranked #102,885 in the world, and has improved its standing amongst conservative blogs nationally to about the 77th spot. (DBKP report a little behind as of this writing)This means we are hitting a lot of folks and getting the gears turning upstairs.

And while we are coming into the new election cycle, I want to make sure that your blogs are updated so we can send traffic to them, and encourage you to keep on making your principled stands. But sometimes folks just plain stop writing. It sometimes takes a little more time than is available, and in other ways might not seem as rewarding.

But we need to have strong conservative voices seen. RightMichigan.com can help that. Truth be told, Michigan has enough politics to keep 100 blogs busy full time. And many actually are.

So as I work this morning on Obama's comments in Holland, on some other recent developments in the Michigan US senate primary, and the realization that we will have starving college students soon, those conservative bloggers who need to get us updated should drop a link or two in the comments so we know where to look.

Arguably, no better way to light the match for the day, than taking a look at some of what Michigan's best bloggers are writing about.

Michigan AFP - HELLO... McFLY? Hey.. Is this thing on?

Apologies Demanded - Lobbyists arndt (hehe) bad guys

    The Blog Prof -
Making sure you have an understanding of why Jan 1st is such sweet release..

    The Auto Prophet -
Don't forget to put on good rubber! Tire article? Really? Well..  Don't accuse me of a lack of diversity.

Motor City Times - Steve aggregates much better than this little list on a more regular basis. This time its the "Rocket Edition"

Did you know about Friday's event in Troy? Putting things in perspective - Wayne County Taxpayers

Once upon a time I had a downturn in revenue for my business.  I seriously considered (would have been a mistake) cutting out my advertising budget.  Think of that when you read Survey Sez - The Voice of One Crying Out In Suburbia

We will be working on updating the link list both here and at MTTM.

    We could use help.

PLEASE if you know of someone who has their Michigan based (conservative) blog up, and is NOT on the list Post here in the comments.  Also please post bad links you encounter.

Every now and again I stumble on to some great work by conservative Michiganders that I was completely unaware.  It would be great to have the Sphere type links once again.  One of the great starting points to a wealth of great commentary.

Update [2010-12-7 16:0:12 by JGillman]: I have killed dead links, and started looking at some of the links where there has not been posting for a year or more..

Around Michigan in 410 words or less

Surprised?  Not surprised to see indoctrination of our youth as described by a Conservative teacher.

She had the students practice lines from the article, and pretend to debate 'conservatives' by offering up straw men arguments and then having the students act out how to be a super liberal. Once students became comfortable with the ideas, the thoughts, and the arguments, the teacher made them comfortable playing the part and believing in those things. With a sick feeling in my stomach, I watched the indoctrination occur, knowing that every day this is what this teacher did.

Given the acceptance in Michigan that failure at any cost is a GOOD thing, it seems the only explanation.

Then there is the Blog Prof (and Rightcuz as well) with the Video of a drunk(?) Max Baucus..
