  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Walberg Votes Against Surrender Deal

US Representative Tim Walberg released the following statement on his vote against the negotiated Senate deal:
"While I am accepting of the fact that we need to move beyond this battle, I remain disappointed that the President and Senate Democrats failed to negotiate in good faith with the House to find a long term solution to many of these issues. Washington now needs to move past this gridlock and instead focus on policies that will create jobs and a healthy economy. Addressing the status quo of trillion dollar deficits, a weak economy, and a health care law that is unfair and harmful to families and our economy needs to remain at the forefront of Congressional efforts to find positive solutions."
Yup.  But it is much worse folks.

As soon as I get a chance to identify if there are any GOP cowards from Michigan we'll make sure they see the wall of shame for at least 6-8 months or until a primary is assured for their seat.  The "deal" appears to have another provision that should fill your drawers with last night's cream corn and ask why the GOP exists at all. Politico reports:

"The legislation also includes a McConnell-written proposal that would allow Congress to disapprove of the debt-ceiling increase. Lawmakers will formally vote on rejecting the bump of the borrowing limit - if it passed, it could be vetoed by Obama.

The deal would also deliver back pay to furloughed federal workers, require a study of income verification for people seeking health-insurance subsidies under the Affordable Care Act and also allows the Treasury Department to use extraordinary measures to pay the nation's bills if Congress doesn't raise the debt ceiling in a timely fashion.

And EARLIER the same story had reported
"The plan includes a proposal offered by McConnell in the 2011 debt ceiling crisis that allows Congress to disapprove of the debt ceiling increase, which means lawmakers will formally vote on whether to reject a debt ceiling increase until Feb. 7. Obama can veto that legislation if it passes. If Congress fails as expected to gather a two-thirds majority to override the veto, the debt ceiling would be raised.
Taking away the power of congress for that extra time, and with the expanded treasury authority writes off the power of the purse unless challenged in the US Supreme court.

we know that "standing" is a common way of denying the adequate redress of our grievances to the court as it is, so this might well be a lost cause.

    Stay tuned.

    No. I don't Think So

OK Progtards, put your anti religion unit on high alert.

    No?

While advocating for a Godless school system, progressives have conveniently ignored the hypocritical actions of extremist Muslims in our midst, which if allowed would turn some Michigan schools into full blown publicly funded Madrasas. According to BizPac Review, after objecting to Off-school CHRISTIAN activities, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) has succeeded in persuading Dearborn school officials to accommodate the floor kissing practice of Islamic prayer in our tax payer funded schools:

"CAIR lodged its complaint against the Dearborn School District, claiming that the school system didn't accommodate Muslim students wishing to participate in prayer on school grounds.

After CAIR staff met with Dearborn Public Schools Superintendent Brian Whiston, the district "implemented a policy which fully accommodates student-led prayer in all the schools," according to the Arab-American News."

Nothing like 'consistency' in public policy.

As seen further in the story:

The very same Michigan chapter of CAIR sent a letter to the Roseville Public School system complaining that permission slips were being handed out so that students could attend Bible classes, according to a CAIR press release.

The classes were not held on school property, but rather at a local Baptist church. In addition. the school didn't provide transportation to or from the Bible classes, and attendance didn't excuse the students from keeping up with their regular school work.

I am sure that the governor or AG would have something to say about THAT.

    Uh..

    oh crap

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Action Alert! RTL Mistakenly Supporting Exchanges

Don't believe a word you hear from supporters of Obamacare being implemented in any way. you are being lied to. This popped into the inbox today.

Tina Dupont of the Tea Party of West Michigan writes:

    "ALERT, ALERT, ALERT!!!!

    ..

Michigan Right To Life has been convinced (guess by who)that a state written exchange will keep us from paying for abortions. They are a strong lobbying group in Lansing as you all know and they are, as I write this, working on our House members to get them to vote to use 9.8 Mill (our federal tax dollars) to start the process of writing a state exchange. Also NFIB has started to do likewise.

Please Please Please, this has to go viral. We must pressure MI RTL to stop this madness and call our Michigan House yet again to encourage them to stay the course. Rep Haines has put up a very valiant fight for us and we must buck her up now so that she can hold her stand against this horrible confiscation of such a large chunk of our economy by Obama and his group of thugs!

We know that it will not matter who writes this thing as the feds (HHS) will force us to pay for abortions. HHS has total control and they want this badly.

The exchange will be available in later years if we find we cannot stop this thing. It does not have to be done today, now.

She is correct. The exchange MUST NOT HAPPEN.

Watch the video.  Then have your state legislator tell Washington to shove this intrusion into state's rights where the thermometer might go.

    Don't sit around.  Call now.
