Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

    Roads Or.. Something

There was enough to disagree with out of the governor's mouth tonight.

The pandering reached epic proportions, but somehow I was not entirely surprised. Aside from essentially ignoring the single most important legislative feat (FTW) in his term (as if he was ashamed) he reached out with political correctness I haven't seen since the 90s.  I fully intend to analyze the complete transcript within a couple of days, but one item is particularly troubling.  The governor, in a bid to bring everyone on board broke out the tired old "investment" theme to sell a tax hike.

"Michigan is currently short about $1.2 billion a year to fix our roads, .. We can pay today or continue to delay, but that will cost us twice as much. We'll need $12 billion over 10 years - and that's just in today's dollars. Continuing to delay lets the costs balloon to $25 billion in 10 years ..."
And the argument is that we MUST add new "user fees" to motorists to pay for that shortage.

    Its a false argument.

I agree with user fees.  In fact no one is more in line with applying a tax as close to its purpose as I.  If there is a tax or fee on an activity, it ought to at least have something to do with that activity. So its easy for those who are conservative minded to get alongside the governor.

Except, ..before saying additional taxes ought to be applied, shouldn't we examine those that exist, and see where that money goes?  Is it not requisite that we understand what our current "user fees" are used for, before adding to them?

    Thoughts?

    God love ya, J-man.

I fully intend to analyze the complete transcript within [Snip]

Hehehe-ha!-BWAAAHAHAHAHAHA!  Really, J-man?  No offense, but I'm still waiting to analyze Mr. Transparency's transcribed SOTS address from 2012.  Oh?  Snyder only offered this bullsh!t outline, and not his speech in writing?  Why, y'all could knock me over with one of his Big Government feathers.  If one was lucky, they could find a 2012 SOTS transcript by some bored keyjockey looking to submit it for security at his obscure Pennsylvania newspaper job, but you cannot find it on the Governerd's website, nor in either of the local Detroit smut sheets.

Jeez, maybe Snyder's presidential permit for the DRIC will be expedited now that he's proven his commitment to Team zerO's anti 2A agenda with sanctioning of politician mandated Homicide Zones in Michigan.  Not the legislature to blame for that in Michigan - just one individual: Rick Snyder.

Ya, I watched the Nerd and pony show last night.  The largest city in the state teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, and Freedom To Work Law, both the most historical events in our time = bastard redheaded stepchildren that are not talked about.  It's way better to fear-monger folks while calling it an "investment," and chastise all other opinion that wants accountability from the use of their already 5th Highest Gas Tax in the Nation.

My take away from this SOTS was much the same as when Snyder had the nuts to put his Progressive agenda words in writing.

I can't imagine why One Term Nerd no longer wants his words in writing.  Damn shame I can't criticize the MoleRattler, or Barry Odowngrade2 about that, isn't it?

Does reading my opinion p!ss off some of those who are allegedly on the Right?  I certainly hope so.  They obviously have no concept of what being on the Right means.

As a now county GOP Chair, I have to watch what I say more often. In response to this tax proposal, everyone knows where I stand. I agree with my Senator Joe Hune who is still opposed to tax increases.
