Well, that's what the "BIG TAX BREAK" equates to for a $50,000/year income.

Michiganians can expect individual tax relief this year as part of an agreement on the state budget hammered out late Wednesday that also includes more money for education, roads and film tax credits.

The state will use $90 million in one-time money to reduce personal income taxes by one-tenth of a percent through either a reduction in the rate, a personal exemption or a combination of both, according to Gov. Rick Snyder's office. He and Republican legislative leaders have still to work out the details.

    ....

Another $180 million will be added to the schools budget, including $106 million to pre-fund the school employees retirement system with the remainder going to K-12 classrooms.

Snyder emerged from a late Wednesday afternoon budget huddle with House Speaker Jase Bolger and Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville saying, "It's making soup; it's good stuff."

Read about the rest of this crap here.

Yup.  More film subsidy for wealthy Hollywood Lefty's, more subsidy for heating bill moochers, and Teachers Goonion payola.

First, give the seniors back the money that Snyder stole when he enacted his pension tax.

While you're at it, drop the Michigan income tax rate down to 3.9% where it belongs (we can lower it even more/eliminate it later).

As for Hollywood: Tell them to go spin on it!

If "The Avengers" can rake in almost half a billion dollars in something like two weeks, you don't need Lansing to go and pick my pocket just so a politician can attend grip-and-grin with some A-lister.

Besides, just ask Allen Park how that whole "Hurray for Hollywood" gambit worked for them?

And why aren't the politicians who signed off on that scam in jail?

Oh yeah, got it! AG Schuette's priority of focusing his office's resources on stoners.

    Moving on.

    "Heating assistance"? Really?

First off, not an enumerated function of state government.

Secondly, we are already paying for this heating "assistance" when the gas company jacks up our rates to pay for the leeches who didn't the previous year.

And to top things off, regarding this:

"State Rep. Pete Lund of Shelby Township, who runs the House Republican's re-election committee, said the proposed tax cuts have nothing to do with the GOP's desire to retain control of the House in the November general election.

"This isn't about politics, it's about policy," Lund told The Detroit News. "Cutting people's tax is a good policy."

    Hallelujah! Someone's finally paying attention!!!

I've met Rep. Lund several times, especially when he was a commissioner. I know that he needs to say that when a reporter has a microphone in his face, but c'mon!

Why couldn't you have done this last year?

    And...

Asked about the political significance of enacting an income tax reduction months before an election, Snyder said: "I don't view it as a political move. It's basically something that should be looked at and should be a discussion item."

    Oh, really?
