Fred Upton's Committee Voting Tomorrow to Kill Obamacare "Death Panels!"
Everyone's attention is rightly focused on Michigan's big Presidential Primary today but I figured this would be as good a day as any to chime back in here at RightMichigan with some other important news that is flying way under the traditional media's radar. Time doesn't stand still during the primaries. See you below the fold ~
I figured most might not realize this, but tomorrow in the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, members are going to be voting to repeal part of Obamacare called the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB for short). Remember the famous "death panels?" These are the real deal.
Obamacare created the 15-member panel to cap the total money of Medicare recipients could get for care. Which sounds like a great idea except when it is taken in context with the rest of Obamacare. According to a physician who spoke to the Daily Caller, IPAB means health care decisions will end up being based solely on cost, instead of what the best possible option is for patients. If a patient is not deemed worth saving this portion of Obamacare steps in and says "let her die." Now, we can have an argument all day long (and we have in the past on this very website) about whether or not Medicare should even exist, but no one will argue that Obamacare should have the right to determine some people are worth treating and some lives are worth saving while others are not. No one. This is the trouble we get into when government gets involved in our health care decisions. And tomorrow the House Energy and Commerce Committee will begin voting to repeal the death panels and get the federal government out of doctors offices across Michigan. We have three local Congress people on the Committee- Fred Upton is actually the Chairman. Republican Mike Rogers and - urgh - Democrat John Dingell are on the Committee as well. That means we have a chance to have our say about the death panels by reaching out to our Congressmen. We need to remind them today, before tomorrow's vote about the proper role for government! If you call. let me know what they say.
Then we push, and hard for the complete annihilation of the abomination known as obamacare.
