    I work very hard.

When I leave the office, I transfer the phones to my cell, so that I may help customers with technical issues.  Fortunately those calls are few, and my evening is relatively quiet.  And when I do not have other responsibilities, I selfishly like to relax in the easy chair, and sometimes even take a nap before writing, or catching up on the day's events.  Quiet, relaxed, and stress free.

    Until electioneering season.

And the establishment Republicans become the most evil sons of &#^%*$ I will ever know. (they seem to be the biggest abusers of this)  They have some idea that calling people at and around dinner time will engender wonderful feelings of support.  If I am not answering, my wife is, and THEN I get to listen to HER about the call, and the 8-10 more that came earlier. To make it worse, they use automated systems that call every 5 minutes so that you remember whom they are.

Don't worry, I will never forget.  And frankly, I will remember to NEVER vote for those who use this type of advertising.

    NEVER.

And I'll bet I am not alone.

    You're NOT alone... (none / 0) (#1)

Roughly 20 minutes ago I got off the phone with a Romney campaign sponsored telephone town hall, featuring Willard's blowhard YouTube thug, Krispy Kreme Christie.

Yes, I went into the question que and waited for approximately 3 1/2 mins before the campaign folk (town hall operator) asked me if I had a question Guv Krispy Kreme.  It went kinda like this...

THO:  Corinthian, good evening. Do you have a question for the governor?

CS:  Not so much for him, but for the Romney campaign.

THO:  You do?  OK, how may I help?

CS:  Could you please tell me what one needs to do to have the Romney campaign and his Restore Our Future SuperPAC to stop calling my house?

    THO: {silence}

CS:  Do you have an answer for my question, or do I need to ask governor Krispy Kreme for the answer?

THO:  I will be sure to pass that along to the Romney campaign.

CS:  May I ask you a question before you go?

THO:  Sure.  Yes sir.  How may I help?

CS:  Between you and I, do the folks you work for seriously believe that someone in Michigan could really care about what a typical blowhard from NJ has to say?  Especially a moderate and I'm being generous with the term moderate when I say that.

    THO:  {silence}

CS:  Hey, I'm not going to put you on the spot, but after 5 years of Willard campaigning and drawing lower numbers that in 2008, you establishment guys should really take the hint.  Have a good night and don't call again.  Thanks.

For all I know, rubes are still on their phones  listening to Krispy Kreme.

    Whatever.

I really do not mind a personal call from supporters.  REAL supporters.  I find those calls to have rewards of their own.

Its the damnable robo dialing that puts me at wits end.

    I'm a precinct delegate . . . (none / 0) (#4)
by Kevin Rex Heine on Thu Feb 23, 2012 at 11:54:27 PM EST
. . . and right now I'm doing "voter identification" calls on behalf of the party.  (Of the 1,483 registered voters in my precinct, 282 are considered "unidentified.")  For the most part, I get at least a civil response when I call around to my neighbors, and most are comfortable with very quickly knocking out the 15-question survey.

One of my neighbors asked me if there was any benefit to talking to me; my response was that, if I do my job right, then it'll cut down pretty significantly on the number of robocalls and campaign mailers she receives.

The drawback is that, for every robocall and mailer my neighbors get, I get five.  Apparently candidates love an active and engaged precinct delegate, and believe that saturating my mailbox will persuade me to reach out to my neighborhood on their behalf.  I don't mind it too much, as I'm perfectly capable of routing the junk into my Paper Gator box, and deleting voicemail messages.

    I hope they cost him a bundle. (5.00 / 1) (#6)

Six calls per day on average.  100% of them have been from the Romney campaign or his PAC(s).  I hope it cost a nice chunk of change.  For us, this was the final straw.  We supported him last time around but we are supporting someone else this time.  We want a statesman to represent us, not another slimy politician.

    Interesting robo info (none / 0) (#11)

It seems that 6 years ago NH residents went through the same harassment that we're all going through with the Romney campaign here in Michigan.  NH residents complained to their AG and the GOP stopped their abusive, intrusive actions.

The National Republican Congressional Committee agreed Sunday to stop calling homes on the registry after a citizen complained to the state attorney general. Under New Hampshire law, political campaigns can contact people on the do-not-call list but cannot use automated recordings.

Obviously in Michigan, complaining to our Attorney General will prove as useful as putting spats on a rhino (pun intended).  Face it, Bill Schuette is responsible for all the obnoxious Romney robocalls.  AG Bill Schuette, is chairman of the Michigan Romney campaign.

So, seeing that AG Schuette thinks it's so damn funny to, by default, endorse Romney's incessant robocalls, perhaps AG Bill Schuette could use a dose of his medicine.

    Voilà!

Just toying with the idea of 10-20 folks in Michigan who might be inspired to part with $20-$100 to robocall the numbers of the three offices listed here would open some eyes within the establishment Ruling Class.

Those caring to Alinsky the obnoxious Romney aristocrats can click here to explore the concept.

OABTW - The Ruling Class is coming after your cell phones next.

Five Mitt calls on my machine yesterday, 3 today (none / 0) (#12)

At least half were anti-Santorum and attacked him on fiscal matters. This as Romney gave us Romneycare and raised fees as governor.

I'll damn well make sure I vote Tuesday, and it isn't for Romney, but Santorum.

And now imagine my chagrin (none / 0) (#13)
by JGillman on Sat Feb 25, 2012 at 07:50:28 PM EST
as the Michigan Santorum robocall announcing the Sunday event I posted earlier, appeared.

At least it was a quick "Hey this is going on!", rather than the hard negative 6-8 times a day from the Romney folks.

    Still ..
