Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Clown Colors Equals Missed Opportunity.

Anyone watching the action on the steps of the capitol in yesterday's news, saw much of the stereotypical tie dyed element in play.  Advocates for a reasonable application of the medicinal marijuana law were dressed in .. what you might expect from those who would advocate .. marijuana (or Marihauna as spelled in current law) use in the state of Michigan.

    "Clown Colors"

That was the descriptive response of a friend of mine. A friend who is, by the way, near and dear to the issue and an advocate for the very things they (Medicinal Marijuana arguers) would like to see happen in the state's capitol.  The tie-died representation of yesteryear's potheads and dope smokers is apparently a hard to kick habit in itself, even in the face of a very serious issue.  In fact its hard to get by the first line of an article about one of the rally goers without shaking my head.

"OAK PARK - Susan Sunshine, 69, traveled with bus loads of others to Lansing on Wednesday afternoon to tell lawmakers to leave her medicine cabinet alone."
    My friend agrees.

The argument is reasonable.  The presentation has not been.  Susie Sunshine?  Really?

The protesters at the capitol are correct that the voters spoke in 2008 to allow the use of Medicinal Marijuana.  The legislature clearly has had a hard time defining in a way that protects legitimate users, and provides a uniform framework that is acceptable to local communities.  Those who marched in Lansing might well have points good and bad, but the way in which they carry the issue has given pause to those considering it from a legal language establishment angle.

    More below ~

The current incarnation of the law has already been abused.

Dispensaries for example being set up as storefront operations in many communities.  The law as written provides no provisions for storefront dispensaries, and it has created a bit of a problem for townships and cities until a recent court ruling forced them to close.  Some are still attempting to remain open with no "sales" of the "medicine", but in fact providing the medicine on a gratuitous provider basis for purchasing items such as stuffed animals.  The Stuffed animals can be re-donated to the dispensaries afterward.

Right. See how long that will last.

Then there is the issue of prescriptions.  The abuse of unseen doctor prescriptions as expected has resulted in anyone with a claim of chronic muscle or headache being able to obtain a card for use.  Aches and pains resulting in the largest number of "prescriptions" has been noted by our attorney general Bill Schuette.

"Attorney General Bill Schuette, who led the opposition to the voter-passed ballot proposal in 2008, said: "This is just what we predicted. It is totally out of control."

He responded when a reporter informed him that most certifications under the law were for chronic pain, not specific illnesses and that 55 doctors were writing most of the prescriptions in Michigan."

    Easily predicted.

    But what a waste.

The fact is that the therapeutic effect of Marijuana has been proven as effective, and more so than pharmaceutical grade substitutes for some sufferers of cancer, MS, and other debilitating illnesses.  The shame is, that the reinforced perception of potheads is carried on the local news.  The irreconcilable view of the weed as a medicine when promoted with circus attire will be counter to the intent of those who have a legitimate need.

The message to those who wish to properly affect this legislation in Lansing?

Next time, wear a suit, and carry a briefcase.

What happened in Lansing yesterday was little more than a filthy hippie fest much like what goes on at LibTard U of M Ann Arbor since '72.

Allen West had the perfect response for ALL the illegitimate high-ons in Lansing as he did for this assclown HEA aid mooch...

I'd also like to know how many of those Lansing "protesters" wanting to recall AG Schuette are on the state dole.

Our collective resources should not be used to to enforce a law to keep people from drinking alcohol. Oh yeah, that's no longer illegal. It sure is bad for ya though. Now, cigarettes are a nasty drug. They shouldn't be illegal either. It's popular to have a 'smoke free' work force, even in this economy. Perhaps our 'officials' should get out of the drug enforcement scheme completely. Just making your parenting the number one priority, be the kind of parent your kids want to follow and America will be filled with the type of citizens you mostly prefer. This 'for our own good' crap is very moldy, expensive and erodes our freedoms and liberty. It's just another extension of the nanny state.

    ...just to be high-ons.

Shekina Pena, 34, owner of Your Healthy Choice Clinic, has been charged with one count of Election Law - Influencing Voters with Money Or Other Valuable Consideration.

"Voters did not intend for marijuana to be handed out as a door prize, especially when it undermines the integrity of our elections process," said Schuette.  "Secretary of State Johnson and I will work to ensure that Michigan election law is followed."

"Integrity in elections is sacred to democracy," said Johnson, who has made election reform a top priority for the Michigan Department of State. "The intent of their actions was clear - they offered their customers marijuana in exchange for voter registration. They also supplied a slate of their preferred candidates. This goes beyond election shenanigans. They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
