I hope that everyone will be enjoying the upcoming weekend.

In this corner of the state we'll have a lot of things going on around Southeastern Michigan.

The Tea Party Express V will be in Hillsdale today at 5pm and Milford on Saturday at 11am.

Romeo will be hosting their annual Peach Festival all weekend.

Hamtramck will be holding their yearly city festival all weekend as well (Great Pierogi...Mmmmmm).

Arts, Beats and Eats is happening. So is Ren Fest and Ted Nugent Saturday Night at Pine Knob.

Oh, but there's more. Click below to find out.

How could I possibly forget the 2011 Detroit Annual Labor Day Parade.

Yes, where else can you attend a local event in which you have more people marching in it, than actually watching?

But this year will be different. This year, the President of the United States, Pres B.O. himself will be speaking after the parade next to the GM World Headquarters.

Attendance is free, bring the kids.

Even though the day is about taking time to recognize the role of labor in our country, Pres. B.O. has got his work cut out for him. After almost three years in office, the economy is as anemic as ever (some may argue considerably worse). His polling numbers are down (we're talking almost Jimmy Carter numbers here). And people are losing their belief that he can actually do what he says (even die-hard regurgitators of progressive dogma).

Isn't it sad that someone who claims that he has a workable jobs plan wants to wait until next Thursday before he announces it to the nation, rather than promote it before the last bastion of supporters that he can ever hope to count on for support (and will definitely have news media in attendance recording everything he says).

Labor Day speech - Proposal to increase jobs. Sure-fire, can't miss stuff, huh?

No wonder they are heavily pushing the free part on the radio and TV this morning.

Speaking of irony, Pres B.O. is now finally aware of this little thing called the US Constitution. Yes, those years spent as a Constitution Law "Professor" at U of C Law are finally beginning to pay off. Woo-hoo!

Jason pointed out a new program trotted out by Pres. B.O. and his underlings to change our perceptions and hopefully give us a warm and fuzzy feeling about the government.

I'm not referring to Pres. B.O.'s scheme to give FEMA an extreme PR-makeover by referring to their actions coming from a federal "family", rather than the federal government (Am I the only on thinking about "Goodfellas" right about now)?

I'm talking about his "We the People" initiative to get people more interested in government by having them directly submit issues to the White House for consideration.

Wow! I'm so impressed with his newfound Constitutional knowledge. Do you think Pres. B.O. even knows what Article 1, Sec 1 has to say about this?

For a man who was very tone deaf during the public debate over Obamacare, the debt ceiling and the overreach of government regulations at every level just to name a few, he sure picked a heck of a time to solicit public feedback.

Just for the record: I don't wear rose-colored glasses. I know that this proposal won't amount to much (to be fair, neither did the YouCut Program either), but it got me thinking, why not have fun with it anyway.

It's not due to go active for some time yet.

When it does, let's see if Pres. B.O. will be as good as his work on this one (I know that he won't, but bear with me here). According to their own website, it will take at least 5,000 "signatures" in order to get a response from the White House. Send out a link to this post on your mailing lists and let people know that there'll be more to come on this. Send it to Drudge, WND & Fox. Have anyone with questions send me an e-mail at: KG_OneATRocketmailDOTCom.

Once it does go active, I'll choose a date, with enough time for this to go national, and then we'll see where this will go.

    Stay tuned...

    I like the express folks. (5.00 / 1) (#1)

some seem to get hung up on the "commercial" quality of the TPX, but frankly, I think it serves the Tea Party quite well.  Grass Roots can attend or not.  And its good to have more folks rousted by a commercially louder moving venue than to have an event more easily ignored by traditional media.
