Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

Who are the "Michigan Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility"?

And why do they support Fred Upton?

Radio ads in Southwest Michigan are touting the supposed fiscal conservatism of Congressman Fred Upton.  The ads praise his work on the "Supercommittee" and claim that Upton was picked because "he's a tough conservative", instead of his insider connections.  Of course, the supercommittee didn't accomplish anything, though the fact that they didn't raise taxes can be seen as a victory.

The ads are run by an outfit called "Michigan Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility".  Who are they?  Their FEC filing lists the people sharing control and Stephen Linder and Jeffrey Timmer. They are both also listed as owners of the Sterlling Corporation, a major Republican political consulting firm in Michigan. The group had previously run ads in 2010 (presumably) attacking Gary Peters, Mark Schauer, and Gary McDowell.

MCFFR seems to be a "SuperPAC" that is not required to disclose its donations.  The organization does not appear to have a website.

It would seem that some wealthy person or persons, who may not actually be citizens of Michigan, paid the Sterling Corporation to run ads praising Upton through a front group that doesn't actually exist except on paper.  Listeners are advised to be skeptical.

    Upton and Solyndra (none / 0) (#1)
by Corinthian Scales on Tue Dec 27, 2011 at 11:06:00 AM EST
Gee, where does one start when it comes to Fred Upton...

Fred's wealth that grew astronomically while in Office?  Note the Stryker holdings.  I'm so shocked by the Log Cabin Republicans seal of approval.

    Fred's political mentor.

Wolpe's letter contained the following revelation.

Fred, we've known each other for many years. Despite my being a Democrat and you being a Republican you will recall that I helped in getting you elected in the first place by making members of my own campaign organization available to you in your fight against Mark Siljander. I have always known you to be honest, moderate, reasonable, and conscientious, and I have always valued our friendship.

Fred being Obama's BFF over the half billion lost on Solyndra?

Rep. Fred Upton's right flank won't stop pushing him.

One year after fending off conservative challengers to win the Energy and Commerce gavel, the Michigan Republican is now in the awkward spot of not being on the same page with his top lieutenant on the high-profile Solyndra investigation.

Whereas Upton has taken a cautious tone sizing up the GOP-led probe into the bankrupt California solar company, Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) keeps pushing the envelope, trying to take the nine-month-old investigation into places where his chairman doesn't appear ready to go.

Upton refuses to label the Obama administration's handling of Solyndra as "corruption." He says he's not interested in forcing a contempt of Congress vote forcing a legal showdown with the White House for not complying with subpoenas.

And Upton has stayed clear of calling for top Obama officials to be fired for their handling of the $535 million loan guarantee.

    Stearns is different.

The chairman of the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee relishes making scathing headlines that purport to show Obama administration wrongdoing. He demanded the president's personal BlackBerry messages -- an idea Upton later knocked down -- and last week entertained the notion of a contempt vote.

"When you issue a subpoena to the White House, you've got to be prepared to back it up," Stearns told reporters.

Upton, asked about a contempt vote, told POLITICO: "I don't know who's talking about that."

Stearns also has led the way in calling for Obama officials to get the ax. Earlier this fall, he said Department of Energy loan guarantee chief Jonathan Silver should be fired; Silver stepped down a few weeks later, saying the move had long been planned. And now Stearns is after Energy Secretary Steven Chu, saying last week that Republicans have the votes to pass a resolution on the floor urging the ouster of the Nobel Prize-winning physicist.

Stearns also said last week that he'd welcome testimony from Rahm Emanuel, the Chicago mayor and former White House chief of staff. Upton? Not so much.

And Fred's other BFF, Pro Abort Zoe Lofgren, and her legendary waste of taxpayer money.

Yup. Even one of the dumbest and one of the most corrupt Democrats in DC does not find Fred Upton's friends amusing.

Oh, I could go on and on about Fred Upton, with things like curlicue light bulbs, but that's for others to do their own research.

    Upton CD-6 voters, embarrassed yet?

    From The Hill:
"Likely Upton challenger to announce plans Tuesday
By Cameron Joseph - 01/16/12 08:51 AM ET

Former Michigan state Rep. Jack Hoogendyk (R) is likely to announce his plans Tuesday to challenge Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), the powerful head of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Hoogendyk ran against Upton in 2010, and pulled a strong 43 percent of the vote despite spending just $62,000 to Upton's $2 million on the race. This time the Tea Party favorite is likely to have national support: The fiscally conservative Club for Growth has praised him and is already running ads attacking Upton's record.

Hoogendyk is a "Tea Party favorite"? Didn't he endorse Romney or somebody like that? Just conventional back-scratching?
