Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety...By KG One, Section News
Crowded out by the perpetual coverage of the Tucson Shootings (another re-airing of the pep rally will be rebroadcast tonight), with a sprinkling of the Chinese delegation visit to Washington (no word yet on when Pres. B.O. will stop bowing) and time permitting a brief mention of the Obamacare repeal vote in the House (with heavy emphasis on 25-year olds with pre-existing conditions who could not afford coverage on their own), there is something else flying below the MSM's radar you might be interested in.
Something that you'd probably thought that you wouldn't see. What is it?

Ten years ago, this September, when terrorists were flying planes into buildings, President Bush addressing a joint session of congress explained their rationale by stating that ,"They hate our freedoms."
To clearly delineate between where the federal government stands on those freedoms compared to that of the terrorists, Congress swiftly and overwhelmingly passed and Pres. Bush signed into law the very next month, the US PATRIOT Act putting any doubts to bed right then and there. One example is what they have done to our rights enumerated under the Fourth Amendment. Sure, the Fourth Amendment is still there. It's just that the government feels that monitoring your phone records, e-mail, web traffic, library records and performing physical "sneak & peak" searches on your property without your knowledge whenever they feel like it isn't actually violating that right. After all, this is for your safety, and you should be pleased that they care about that. I can continue, but it's fairly obviously where I'm going with this. However, one good thing which was placed in the bill were sunset provisions for certain sections of the Act.
One such reauthorizing of a sunset provision was placed in the hopper for consideration on January 5th. So why are these so important? Well, one section involves the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005. That's right, showing your I.D. and signing a piece of paper in order to purchase cold medicine at the corner CVS, is you doing your part to help combat terrorism! Or the Afghanistan Freedom Support Act Amendments of 2004. Yes, I'm referring to the very same people who have been repeatedly trying to directly tax those working in Afghanistan and are trying to bring it out of the 5th Century. And you thought that Obamacare had bizarre provisions.
Purportedly, we have a new Congress now. One that stands for limited government and the US Constitution. If those words actually meant something, Congress should not only vote "No" on Rep. Rogers' H.R. 67, but should also look at the repeal all previous extensions as well.
