Anytime I turned on the TV for the news over the weekend, there was the story of the threatening letters to the country's governors. ..  Including our own..

Governor Granholm is among a group of at least 30 governors who received a letter from a domestic extremist group demanding they resign.  The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have identified the group as one calling itself Guardians of the Free Republics.  The letter also calls for the governors to be removed from office if they fail to resign with three days.  Homeland Security says state police should be aware this could indicate the group plans to use violence to remove the governors, although the letter didn't include such a threat.

Interesting..  why now?  I mean there have been crazy people from the beginning of time, and I assure you, even Michigan has its share.  And if I had to guess, given the incredible deftness which this governor has displayed in her ability to destroy an economy, she has like received more than one.  Not a good thing mind you.. just a reality of being a really, really, really bad leader.

So we have to question the timing of such announcements, and rather than call the media type an insipid bunch of socialist infatuates, perhaps we should look at whom might be causing such a stir...

Lets look at this group.. Guardians of the Free Republic..

Wow.. Guardians!  < -- note the (s) huh..

If you do a little digging, you might come up with:

    Registrant:
       CopperCards E.A.
       210 Sun Crest Dr.
       Soquel, CA  95073
       US

       Registrar: DOTSTER
       Domain Name: GUARDIANSOFTHEFREEREPUBLICS.COM
          Created on: 05-FEB-10
          Expires on: 05-FEB-11
          Last Updated on: 06-FEB-10

       Administrative, Technical Contact:
          Elders, Guardian  (Clive)...

    and yadda yadda...

OK, maybe only one name fits on the registrar form.. but also there is a business called infotelesys at the very same address who's owner Clive Boustred, has apparently had some trouble with the government.. (which is hardly surprising)and had to "end operations" ...

My point is.. LOOK at the sites.

Does this look like a "group" As the FBI and our diligent news outlets seem to assert?

And the amount of air time afforded to giving this one insignificant guy a helluva lot of attention is ridiculous ..unless someone is trying to make a point, or drive an agenda.

    Sorrowfully pitiful..

I kinda suspected that this thing originated with someone who probably also thinks Westboro Baptist Church is the definitive word of God.

This piece also reminds us that we have to be diligent when attending Tea Parties. The kook fringe left, as most know, is not above inflitrating and doing something outrageous to reflect ill on us "peasants with pitchforks."

    Good legal doubletalk... (none / 0) (#4)

... on this guy's website. Aside from that, not much "there" there.  Still, has anyone seen a full text of these letters to the governors?
It's interesting how we on the Right have learned all too well that media and government criticism of "conservatives" is very often dishonest, inaccurate, and politically driven.  Yet, when these same voices start in on anyone to OUR right, we're happy to accept anything they say as gospel.  Step one should be to inform yourself before judging.
