From a Press Release, Moments ago..
LIVONIA, MI--Mike Cox today announced the addition to his campaign team of two experienced and prominent figures in Michigan and Republican Party politics. RightMichigan.com founder and conservative activist Nick De Leeuw has joined the Mike Cox 2010 team as campaign Press Secretary and Tim Phelps, the former Director of Special Projects for the Republican National Committee will serve as Political Director for the campaign.
"Nick De Leeuw and Tim Phelps have built their reputations on hard work and a commitment to the conservative ideas that will help bring jobs back to Michigan and I am proud they have agreed to join me in that fight," said Cox.
De Leeuw, a Grand Rapids native and veteran of statewide campaigns across Michigan, is the founder of the State's leading conservative blogging community, RightMichigan.com. He previously served as the Director of Advance for the DeVos for Governor Campaign. Since September he has served as the Deputy Director of Communications for the Department of Attorney General. "Mike Cox's demonstrated commitment to defending the unborn, to cutting government spending in Lansing and to lowering taxes on Michigan families and job makers clearly makes him the best choice in this year's race for Governor and I am honored to join his team," said De Leeuw. Phelps, a Dearborn native, is a veteran of numerous campaigns, on the local, state, and federal level. For the 2006 and 2008 election cycle, Phelps was a key figure in the Political Division at the Republican National Committee Headquarters in Washington, D.C. - the department responsible for the committee's national voter turnout operation and 72 hour program. As Director of Special Projects, he was an aide to numerous senior White House and RNC officials - providing advice and logistical support. He participated in operations in 37 states, including extended stays in Louisiana and Iowa.
