The Conspicuous Omission in the State of the State Address

Governor Granholm gave the State of the State Address last night.  It was non-eventful to say the least.  Tuning in for one purpose, which was to wait for any hint that our community would thrive once again, the listener was extremely disappointed.

Granholm's delivery touted jobs she helped develop, past goals she was in the process of achieving, and praise for the current national administration and put blame on the old.

Because the development of a new clean coal plant in Rogers City means so much to the area, the fact that the only mention of future energy resources pointed to solar and wind, made it clear that Jennifer Granholm has no intention of helping this northern town.

Some of the excerpts from the SOS:

We set a goal three years ago to enroll 100,000 displaced workers in training that would allow them to fill the in-demand jobs of the new economy.

That short term goal won't even be realized ten years from now.  With the promise of 100,000 jobs three years ago, the Governor points to 36,536 jobs that she has a hand in developing, and 40,000 by 2020.

Job providers are the critical architects and builders of the new Michigan.

Yes, they are, and when a job provider (business) offers jobs, you ought to take them.

It's a long haul from Muskegon to the Mackinac Bridge, but it's a great ride.

Yes, it is beautiful, and barren of jobs for the over one million people.... Read more at jennerationx.com

    After the SOTS (none / 0) (#1)

Frank Beckman was part of the panel on Tim Skubic's show after the Czarina had finished her spewfest. He said he had gone back and looked at all of the State of the State addresses that the Holy Mole has given. He added up all the jobs that Granholm claims to have created or retained ( isn't that like created or saved?)over her tenue as as whatever she is. Anyway, Bechman arrived at a figure of 798,000 jobs that supposedly according to Jenny No jobs we have here in Michigan just waiting for people to fill them. Interestingly enough she had admitted in the speech that we have lost well over a million jobs. If in fact she has created 798,000 jobs against the loss of a million jobs Michigan wouldn't have an unemployment rate of almost 15%. So her figures don't add up much like most everything else this woman has claimed or said the last seven years. Really I think that only thing that I and many other Michigan residents would like to her this disaster say is "Goodbye."

    Green Jobs (none / 0) (#3)

I am going to say it again!  If green jobs are the future in this state - why are those firms who design and plot out green alternatives not doing any business in Michigan?  We have over 100 environmental engineering firms in our customer base and not one of them is beating down our doors to do business with us.  Goods, services and products needed to design these alternatives would be flying out our front door - but we just posted another very dismal month for earnings.

Granholm and company cannot exit this state fast enough for me.  I only hope I have a job by the time she leaves.
