Michigan Liberal's Eric B posted this from Gongwer. It's time for us to call our reps. I just got off the phone with Bill Rogers office.

    --------------------------------------------

The House is expected to vote on five revenue bills during Tuesday's session.

House Democrats are expected to caucus for several hours before the vote. If all five revenue proposals were to become law they would raise an estimated $345.8 million. The revenue proposals are:

    •  a 15 percent reduction in Michigan Business Tax credits, equal to $116.1 million
    • raising the state's other tobacco products tax by $41 million
    • an extended hours liquor license fee to raise $13.7 million,
    • freezing some personal exemptions to the income tax to save $55 million,
    • and raising the earned income tax credit by less than the scheduled level to save $120 million.

A sixth proposal to launch a tax on physicians at 3 percent is not expected to come up for a vote today.
    -----------------------------------------------

For the record I oppose reduction in MBT credits, oppose raising tobacco taxes, support the extended hours liquor license, oppose freezing income tax exemptions, and lean against raising earned income tax credit.

seeing a post by Jack Hoogendyk on his blog, Core Principles.

Interesting quote on the 1st of Oct: "Do not expect a vote on revenue increases (a.k.a. tax hikes) in the House as part of the immediate budget solution for Fiscal Year (FY) 2010, House Speaker Andy DILLON (D-Redford Twp.) told reporters this evening." This also from http://www.jackformichigan.org/  Obviously the operative word was "immediate."

As usual the Progressive Liberals use the only page in their playbook and do exactly the WRONG thing. To these people when in doubt raise taxes. Hasn't worked for the last seven years and it won't work now. Never has, never will. It is apparent to me that with the idiots I see as elected officials in this state from the local, state and federal level that intelligence is not a requirement to be elected to a political office.Just be a big enough suck up to the powers that be and you are in like Flynn. When are WE THE PEOPLE going to demand better of our elected officials? When will we finally be able to elect people that actually care about this state rather then filling their own pockets. These are sad and altogether unAmerican times. If the founders were here today what would we say to them. Could we as Americans look them in the eye and explain all this. I know that if my nine family members that served in the Revolutionary War suddenly came back and ask "what have you done." What would I say. Would they if they could answer tell us that their sacrifice was worth it once they were to see what WE have made of this country. We have let it slip away and it is time, with very little time left for us to gather it back up and return this country to a government of WE THE PEOPLE. It is time to send the permanant political class packing. We need terms limits on every single elected and appointed position in this country regardless of whether local, state, or federal.

Will the RINO's Betray Us Again? (none / 0) (#5)

Of course, the big question is whether Michigan Senate Majority Leader Bishop will cave again this time around and allow some of his RINO's to vote in favor of tax increase.  This does feel like 2007 all over again.

Will West Michigan Sen. Patty Birkholz stab her constituents in the back AGAIN this time around?  She's not up for re-election (term-limited) so I fully expect her to do just that.

Folk, this is simple stuff.  There are luxuries our state can no longer afford given the shambles our economy is in.  Severe cuts in spending are required and it will hurt.  But only those cuts and reworking our tax code to make Michigan irresistible to job creators will bring us back from devastation.

Unfortunately, we're not hearing much about that from our "leaders" in Lansing.
