On Core Principles:  Yes indeedy, Michigan just might go red this go-round.  And it's about damn time.

On First GOP Blogs:  And a center-left buddy of mine in Iosco County holds that Rep. Stupak is a "Knight of the Balance" (her words).  Wait'll I show her this.

On Hall of Record:  Ain't nature amazing?  History clearly teaches us that man's fiddling with God's handiwork just screws things up more permanently.

On Russ Gibb at Random:  It's idiots like these that give LifeLock their business niche (not that I'm shamelessly plugging their identity theft insurance, which works really well for me).

On The Shekel:  An interesting bit of electoral submarine warfare.  Unfortunately I could do no such damage in my district . . . no contested Dem seats.

most honest right wingers will admit (albeit with a wink and a nudge) that the 30-some-odd republicans back in washington is nothing more than cheap political ruse that is readily transparent.

are we all that stupid? i guess the showboaters doing this think so.

. . . Whatever.  Showboating?  Transparent ruse?  Cheap politcs?  Seriously!

I'll admit to no such damn thing!!!

Her Royal Comaradeness, Nancy Pelosi, promised on the record when she was sworn in that she was going to stay away from the partisan wrangling that she claimed characterized 12 years of a Republican-led House.  So what, exactly, has she done in her first two years?

Not a bloody thing!  The 110th Congress (most especially the House of Representtives) has nearly set the Gold Standard for do-nothing status . . . if they haven't actually done so outright.

The two-and-a-half-dozen or so Representatives that are protesting the vacation are doing so because the citizenry they represent want something done about the ridiculously high oil and gas prices.  They're protesting because Speaker Pelosi, with a bill on the table to repeal the Congressional Moratorium on Offshore Drilling (that she rightly fears will pass), instead declared a summer vacation.

When the repealment of the Executive Moratorium on Offshore Drilling was repealed, at-the-pump gas prices dropped about half a buck nearly overnight.  Why then, other than as a partisan gambit to make the Republicans look unelectably bad, would she not allow that bill onto the floor for an up-or-down vote?

News flash to Pelosi:  You've misestimated voter disgust.  Or did you miss the fact that Congress has lower approval ratings than the President, and has for awhile?  Expect your stunt to backfire -- badly.

No, Whatever, the Republican Representatives aren't showboating to score political points.  Speaker Pelosi is.

. . . that line should have read:

"When the Executive Moratorium on Offshore Drilling was repealed . . ."

A little calmer now, but Whatever still need to have his cranial-rectal inversion dealt with.  There're specialists for that.

For years, Republicons have refused the deal with the energy problem in this country other than their hackneyed refrain of "drill, drill, drill". They've refused to invest in new technology, or conservation or any of the other steps that would have an immediate impact on reducing our dependency on foreign oil. Why? Because it wouldn't funnel money into the pockets of the special interests that fund their campaigns.
