From Aids to economics, from the war to Katrina, and " not winning the popular vote" we hear the most two faced and out right lies about this administration. I'm all for criticizing where appropriate and I've never seen an administration that is perfect. The strange thing is when most of the complaints come from those who never to rarely criticize the left. Stranger still is when those who profess to be conservative enter in and agree without accurate history and facts.
Here's an example from this site and more from moi:
"George W. Bush
He ran as a compassionate conservative and promised a humble foreign policy, but governed as the reincarnation of Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, and Lyndon Johnson all tied into one. (One could argue, along with Bill Kauffman in his highly recommended book, Ain't My America, that the Johnson and Bush presidencies illustrate what a bad deal Texas's annexation has turned out to be for republican government.) Although Bush inherited a recession, this more severe one can be explained by his expansions of bureaucracy and debt, which have occurred at such record levels that his likely successors, though men of the Left, are welcomed because they could be viewed as being to Bush's right. Furthermore, the doubling of the national debt in seven years (and increasing it by a half trillion dollars in the last two weeks alone) is one of the primary unstated reasons for credit problems today, which explains the political desire to blame Wall Street." I dare (all of) you to help me poke holes in why it isn't true that Bush should be carelessly, ignorantly, and dangerously added to the 'list.'
I'll start: Since the unity of the country after 9-11 we had U.S. and Iraqi casualties mount and support for the war took a nosedive. This erosion in national unity had been under attack by the left and they took advantage of the fact that EVERY war has its challenges and mistakes. Regardless of the obligations to support our troops and a country at war, the left continuously tacked on earmarks to every bill, submitted bills that required more debt and passed them, and supported and passed the growth and expansion of existing programs. All this by holding the Administration hostage via the necessity of funding for the troops. If the left had acted responsibly and only funded the war we wouldn't have the debt numbers we do now. We know we need to fight terror at home and abroad. This should be government at its best regardless of the separate issue of the financial crisis. To blame this administration as if it carelessly contributed flies in the face of it's efforts (that were rebuked) to bring the issue to the forefront and take steps to fix it. It also suggest that the financial issues didn't start decades ago and that the most egregious contributing factors are current national debt. If this administration had never existed, if the war on terror didn't/wasn't happening, this financial problem would still be a huge problem just waiting to explode and wake up America. Oh, remember: 1) Think before you type. 2) All strawmen should be recognized as misleading and mostly ignored (or advised, "Strawman! Get back on topic and quit trying to guilt trip me!) or deleted as the trolling it is. 3) Whose side are you on anyway? 4) I double dare ya!
