      Even if you frack for NG in the UP, that still doesn't get it to the residents because there is no underground distribution system that you have in urban areas.

      Outside of its initial high cost, I have thought that geothermal heating/cooling or wood stoves made sense for rural areas because you were not dependent on fuel delivery as much.  But regardless of type of heating, you always have some weak links... propane/NG distribution or electricity for operation... to deal with.

      Since we have NG available and electrical outages are common [lost power the other day from an ice storm] we have a 20kw NG generator that picks up the load and keeps everything running.
