Goonions serve to protect the lowest common denominator.  There is zero incentive for good folks to excel.  The harder you work, the harder the brotherhood will let you work.  That is why I made a decision long ago to never take a job that requires goonion representation.  What I saw in goonion labor is that it wasn't the cream that is floating to the top, IYKWIMAITYD.  Besides, 'ol Bob Kingfish at Seniority House gots to have that dues money rolling in dontcha know.  Golf courses on Black Lake and other associated "creative financing" are not cheap agendas to operate.
