The bill says people currently sixty seven and over pay nothing, while it breaks into two different groups, based on age, what everyone else pays.  and always will pay.

The House and Senate have voted for an unnecessary tax increase.  The revenue estimating conference on Monday will prove that.

And, as to fairness:

1. it's unfair that the rich don't pay their "fair share."
   
2. it's unfair that someone that gets a haircut doesnt pay sales tax, but someone that buys a car does.
   
3. people with bigger cars that ruin the roads don't pay their "fair share" of taxes to fix them.
   
4. and on and on and on

I'd also point out that the same GOP ripped Granholm to shreds over bumping up the income tax... and now they want to freeze it.

So we've opened up a new tax source, and froze a rollback on the income tax, and are anxious to spend all the new money coming in to the treasury on restoring a bunch of cuts... ain't you glad you voted Republican?

Your "huge business cut" was absolutely necessary, but the pension tax that "levels the playing field" only raises 300 million dollars.  That's almost an accounting error, even in this budget.
