    How about cutting spending? If the politicians in Lansing would stop spending more and more each year they would have less need to raise taxes. Many of the programs and departments created under the Czarina should and could be eliminated as being totally unnecessary. This would save millions. And taking a large axe to the number of state employee's also would save money. I will state this again. There is no reason with our diminished population that this state needs nearly 60,000 people working for it. In 1985 with a population of nearly eleven million the state government employed 32,000 and met it's obligations just fine. There are other areas that need to be addressed as well. Such as getting rid of all taxes in favor of a state Fair Tax and passing right to work legislation. If a healthy dose of guts and common sense are applied to the problems that face this state they can be solved. It really isn't difficult to figure out what needs to be done, the hard part is finding someone to lead this state that has the guts to apply the proper solutions.
