My trusty 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan has served me extremely well. It's getting high in mileage and has never left me stranded...and it's got a Mitsubishi engine.
Now the time has come for me to get a vehicle and I'm at a loss. What the heck do I buy? If I get anything other than a GM vehcile I feel like a traitor -- my father and both grandfathers are/were GM retirees. My dad draws a GM pension and health care benefits. But will GM be around in a year to service the vehicle and provide replacement parts? Same thing applies to Chrysler and, to a lesser extent, Ford.
I'm looking at the Ford Edge, the Honda CRV, Saturn VUE and the Nissan Rogue. I love the Edge but it's expensive and the MPG isn't great. I'm going to test drive them all before I make a decision, but #1 on my list is comfort and reliability.
This credit or rebate is interesting but the devil is in the details. Are they going to put an income restriction on it? Add MPG demands and screwy rules that exclude all but the tiniest, family-hostile v ehicles?
Sign me stumped. And needing a new vehicle.
