      Cherry says he needs $100 million for the Promise Grants so he proposes something that he says will raise $118 million.  Extra money to go to preservation of wetlands and to possible Great Lakes initiatives.  

      There was a comment by a poster on Mlive last night that typifies the Democrat attitude about governance and this state:

      FINALLY!!! if Nestle is forced to move out of state to steal somebody else's water, good riddance. Buying bottled water is ridiculous and irresponsible for 99% of the population of Michigan. Putting a tax on such a wasteful habit could bring back a broken promise as well as cure some of the population of a bad habit.
      In one sentence bdl725 identifies a evil business villain, dismisses the importance of employers and jobs, makes moral judgments concerning his neighbors' consumer habits, glorifies taxation and big spending programs, and embraces the virtue of using taxation as a punishment for undesired behavior.

      Folks, this is what we are up against.  Meanwhile, U-haul and Ryder are doing a pretty brisk business.
