    Lots of jobs? Where did I hear this before? (none / 0) (#1)

    Where did I hear the "lots of new jobs" thing before?  Wait -- that's what the City of Detroit said when they brought in casino gambling!  Yessirree, we found out that there would be tons of jobs, that we'd see an "Atlantic City" Renaissance, that we'd have the next Vegas at our doorstep.

    Well, here we are, about a decade down the road, and we have one casino in bankruptcy, and Detroit's poverty issues are worse than ever.  

    The stem cell research issue -- the the lotto and casino gambling issues before it -- is yet another example of where we're asked to give up our moral values in exchange for the promise of prosperity.  

    No doubt the proverbial serpent in Genesis is amazed at what we've done with his example.  I can't wait until someone figures out that we can make tons of money if we legalize marijuana....
